The 24-year-old man who was arrested last year in connection with a string of residential burglaries in Citrus Heights was sentenced to 38 years in prison on Friday, police announced in a post on social media Monday afternoon.
When he was arrested in February 2017, Levi Pierce was accused by police of entering more than a dozen local residences near Calvary Cemetery and Lakeview Village Mobile Home Park over the period of more than a month, taking small items and cash during early morning hours. Police alleged he entered many of the residences through unlocked doors and windows and believed he was using open space and creek areas for his escape.
The string of crimes caused police to issue a warning to residents, reminding them to lock windows and doors and to be on the lookout for suspicious activity.
Pierce was initially charged with 25 counts of burglary-related charges, but court records indicate half of those charges were ultimately dismissed. He entered “no-contest” pleas for the remaining 12 felony charges, which landed him a sentence of 38 years and 4 months in state prison.

In a statement issued on Monday, Citrus Heights Police Chief Ron Lawrence said he “could not be more pleased with the work of our police detectives and officers” working on the case.
“They solved this crime trend and through great police work captured this dangerous felon,” said Lawrence. “Our community is far safer with this criminal off the streets and in custody.”
In 2015, Pierce had previously plead “no contest” to a burglary-related felony charge that earned him five years probation. His latest crime spree, which police said happened between November 2016 and February 2017, occurred while he was still on probation.
A request for additional comment on the case from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office was not immediately responded to on Monday afternoon.
