A recently formed artist networking group will be showcasing their work at a local art fair on April 29. More than a dozen members of the Creative Collaborations Crew of Citrus Heights will be demonstrating live painting at the fair, according to a news release from event organizers.

The fair will be held in Jasper’s Giant Hamburgers parking lot on the corner of Madison Avenue and Dewey Drive. Parking and attendance will be free, but guests may wish to bring a wallet to purchase art on sale. Jasper’s will also have a special breakfast menu for the event.

According to the group’s Facebook page, items for sale will include jewelry, traditional painting, ceramics, and more.

The new local arts group was formed in October 2016 with a mission to encourage visual artists to improve their skills. The group is open to visual artists of all skill levels and includes people from Citrus Heights, Sacramento, Carmichael, and nearby areas.

The CCC meets at Jasper’s on the first and third Wednesday of each month to discuss and work on art pieces, as well as to swap art.

In an effort to showcase and support local artists, the “Hidden Treasures Art Show” will return to Sunrise Mall during the first two weekends in March — this year featuring artwork from more than 30 different Citrus Heights residents.

Hosted each year by the Citrus Heights History and Arts Commission since 2014, this year’s event will be held from 12-5 p.m. on March 4-5th and March 11-12th. Admission for the event is free and open to the public, and organizers say the event will be family friendly with live music and refreshments from 3-5 p.m.

According to a news release from the City of Citrus Heights this week, the art show will also feature various live painting demonstrations by Citrus Heights residents. Live music will be performed daily by Christian Rico, a Citrus Heights resident and classic guitarist.

The news release said featured local visual artists include Becky Herz, Betty Evans, Christopher Grimes, Denise Phillips, Diane Houle, Ed Chaney, Jeanne Snyder, Joe Lesh, Lianna Peters, Luanne Leineke, Maura Clark, Richard Nederlof, and Yazmin Tabba.

Group artists will also be featured, with art from the Citrus Heights Art and Wine Day Meetup, Creative Collaborations Crew of Citrus Heights, Sacramento Suburban Writers Club, Mesa Verde High School, Sunrise Recreation and Park District, Sunrise Tech Center, as well as literary artists and local veterans.

The Hidden Treasures exhibit is held inside the Sunrise Mall in a space the mall donates each year, near Sears. Prior exhibits have highlighted different aspects of local history and art, with the first two years highlighting historic items and art pieces donated by local residents or obtained by the commission.
