The annual Spooktacular festivities in the shopping center at 7825 Lichen Drive will take place again this Saturday, Oct. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Activities include kid-friendly carnival games, prizes, face painting, and stage performances. A kids costume contest will be held at 1:30 p.m.
The event also has good number of vendors that come back each year, according to the Antelope Crossing Business Association, which co-sponsors the event with the City of Citrus Heights each year.
A health fair is also held in conjunction with the festival, hosted by New Hope Ministries. Low-cost and free medical services are offered.
“We’re always getting bigger and better,” said Dale Covey, president of the Antelope Crossing Business Association and organizer of the event. “It’s a wonderful way for our neighborhood to come and hear about many of the things offered by the medical services.”
The kid’s costume contest is what Covey said is the highlight of the event, as well as the crowd favorite. Over 120 children participated in the contest last year.
Covey also said members of the City Council will make an appearance at 1 p.m., as well as other local and state political representatives. Sacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost is also expected to attend the event, along with the Citrus Heights Police Department’s K-9 Unit.
The festival is billed as “free family fun” for all attendees, with nothing to pay for except at vendor booths. All carnival games, as well as popcorn and water, will be free.
2019 marks the 11th year the Antelope Crossing Business Association has helped host the Spooktacular event. The Association was formed in 2009 to help support and promote the two commercial and retail shopping centers located off Antelope Road at Interstate 80.
