Metro Fire crews responded to a two-alarm garage fire at a condo on Slippery Creek Lane on Tuesday afternoon, which left one unit and several vehicles damaged.
Battalion Chief Scott Perryman told The Sentinel at the scene there were no reported injuries during the incident, and all occupants were able to safely evacuate the unit. He said crews were able to keep the flames from spreading further into adjoining units.
Metro Fire posted video on Twitter following the incident, showing firefighters arriving on scene as the garage fire can be seen quickly growing in the background.
Units were on scene just over three minutes after receiving the 911 call, Perryman said. Five engines, three truck companies, two medic units, and battalion chiefs were on hand during the incident because condominiums and apartments are classified as commercial structure fires requiring the deployment of additional units.
The blaze occurred at 6342 Slippery Creek Lane, which is located in a development behind the Ranch Motel, off Auburn Boulevard.
Neighbor Barbara Ray thanked crews for their quick response, calling the firefighters “fabulous” and praising them for coming quickly.

Another neighbor, Ed Andrade, said he was alerted to the incident when he heard loud pops as the fire became more involved.
“I thought it was gunfire, I came running downstairs to see what was going on,” he said. “It was a solid wall of smoke.”
It is common to hear aerosol cans exploding as a fire develops, according to authorities. The cause of Tuesday’s fire was not immediately known, but Perryman said the cause is under investigation.
