  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: March 3-6

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from March 3 through March 6, 2016.

    March 3, 2016: Total of 48 incidents listed.
    Incident categories of note: 20 disturbance-related (noise, verbal, loitering), 9 homeless-related, 5 assaults, 4 DUI-related, 3 reckless driving. Zero vehicle thefts or robberies listed.

    12:19 a.m., Reckless driving, Sunrise Blvd. — A wrong way driver in a white BMW was reported driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Sunrise Boulevard near Madison Avenue, before turning onto Wildridge Drive., near Madison Avenue. Disposition listed: advised.

    8:09 a.m., Homeless camp, Auburn Blvd. — A homeless camp with tents and “lot of property” was reported in the creek area directly behind the Ultimate Detail & Paint Restoration on Auburn Boulevard. Disposition listed: assisted.

    12:10 p.m., Domestic violence, Shadow Ln. — A caller said two men had approached him and taken his prescription medications from his pocket while he was walking through the Autumn Ridge Apartment complex on Shadow Lane the day before. He said he felt threatened due to their size and said they were suspects from the theft his neighbor had reported the prior day (likely a medical marijuana theft listed on 3/2). The caller further stated that “the female resident of neighboring unit is assaulting her fiance.” He said the fiance had lifted his shirt the prior day and showed him bruise marks “that the female had caused.” He said the unit also has a lot of suspicious activity, likely drug-related. Disposition listed: assisted.

    11:49 p.m., Noise disturbance, Dewey Dr. — A caller reported an ongoing problem with a resident “making a lot of noise in the backyard,” sounding like something being banged with a hammer. The caller said it was a frequent occurrence around midnight, occurring for about 30-40 minutes and then starting again. Disposition listed: advised.

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from Feb. 29 through March 2, 2016.

    Feb. 29, 2016: Total of 50 incidents listed.
    2:55 a.m., Vehicle burglary, Blayden Ct. A vehicle burglary was interrupted on Blayden Court near Northwoods Park, reportedly involving two males. The caller followed the pair to the area of Oak Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard and provided a partial license plate of a gold Toyota Corolla involved. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

    10:51 a.m., Brandishing weapon, Bayoak Wy. An arrest was made after a caller in a wheelchair reported a female roommate was “off meds” and walking around with a knife, threatening to stab the caller. The incident occurred on Bayoak Way, near Rusch Drive. Disposition listed: arrest.

    9:24 a.m., Reckless driving, Lichen Dr. A caller reported that a driver of a purple scion had been swerving and traveling at around 70 miles an hour through the neighborhood of Lichen and Brimstone Drives. The driver was reportedly yelling and threw a bottle at the caller. A description of a driver in his mid-20’s was given, but plates were unknown. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    8:42 a.m., Assault, Birdcage St. A battery incident between a mother and grandmother was reported to police, occurring at the Birdcage Village Apartments. The mother reportedly had a knife. Disposition listed: assisted.

    March 1, 2016: Total of 54 incidents listed
    10:19 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Sunrise Golf Course. Six transients were reported behind PetSmart with “items scattered all over behind the fence.” The issue was described as an ongoing problem. Disposition listed: assisted.

    3:49 p.m., Petty theft, Sports Authority. A female reportedly walked out of the Sports Authority on Birdcage Center Lane with around $300-400 of clothing. A description of the vehicle she left in was provided, but plates were unknown. Disposition listed: report taken.
    10:15 p.m., Vandalism, Verhoven Ct. A caller reported someone had thrown a garden stake at their vehicle and dented it. The stake reportedly belonged to a neighbor who had told the caller it was “likely one of her adult nephews who did it.” The nephews were not currently at the scene. Disposition listed: advised. Other incident reports of note: 17 disturbance-related (verbal, loitering), nine reports of reckless driving, seven homeless-related reports, two assaults reported. March 2, 2016: Total of 48 incidents listed 3:52 p.m., Robbery, Shadow Lane. A caller said he was robbed of his medical marijuana while walking through the Autumn Ridge Apartments. He said two males “came up to him and intimidated him into emptying his pockets.” No weapons were reportedly involved. Disposition listed: advised. 4:05 p.m., Vandalism, Rusch Park. A caller reported that around 20 minors were writing their names and profanities in wet cement that had been poured that day near the Veteran's Grove area. Disposition listed: gone on arrival. 4:53 p.m., Grand theft, Verizon. A person reportedly stole four phones from the sales floor at the Verizon Wireless in the Birdcage Center on Sunrise Boulevard. Disposition listed: report taken.   • Citrus Heights Police Logs: Feb. 24-25

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from Feb. 24 through Feb. 25, 2016.

    Feb. 24, 2016: total of 54 incidents listed.

    12:51 p.m., Panhandling, Sunrise Blvd. A caller reported that a panhandling woman was “pretending to be disabled in a wheelchair” in front of Food Maxx. After receiving money from people, she was reportedly seen running to her vehicle to put the money inside. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    9:03 p.m., Injury collision, Antelope/Zenith. A vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision was reported at the intersection of Antelope Road and Zenith Drive, with a man reportedly in the roadway not moving and injured. (See additional coverage in News Briefs)

    Other incidents of note: 15 disturbance-related (noise, verbal, etc.), seven shoplifting/petty theft reports, four homeless-related (loitering, camping), two stolen vehicle reports (one “unfounded”), six reports of suspected DUIs, two assault reports.

    Feb. 25, 2016: total of 46 incidents listed.

    12:05 p.m., Burglary, Lowe’s on Greenback Lane. Loss Prevention staff at Lowe’s reported that two men entered the store on Feb. 23 and grabbed three DeWalt power tools and gloves. The pair then left through the fire exit to a waiting getaway vehicle. The entire incident was caught on video surveillance. Disposition listed: report taken.

    9:46 p.m., Injury hit-and-run, Auburn/Antelope. A caller reported a hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist at Auburn Boulevard and Antelope Road. The caller was following the vehicle involved, listed as a blue Chevy Equinox. Disposition listed: report taken.

    9:49 p.m., Petty theft, Walgreens on Dewey Dr. A customer was reportedly inside the store “yelling at employees because they couldn’t find her photo order.” After a manager asked her to leave, she became “irate” and took several drinks from the store without paying. She then repeatedly called back to say she was going to have the employee who called police “beat up.” She also said she would “have someone throw rocks at the store window.” Disposition listed: advised.

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from Feb. 20 through Feb. 23, 2016.

    Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016: Total of 43 incidents listed.

    5:22 p.m., Grand theft, Cross Dr. A caller said he noticed a box next to his bed had been opened and $4400 in cash had been taken out of a bank envelope. He was unsure when it had happened, but believed it to have occurred in the last two months. Disposition: Report taken.

    10:18 p.m., Verbal disturbance, Sloop Ct. A caller reported that a neighbor was on their lawn “trying to attack” their mailbox with a stick, as well as yelling and screaming on their driveway. A description of the man was provided, and police were requested to come out due to the issue being described as ongoing. Disposition: unable to locate.

    Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016: Total of 47 incidents listed.

    1:11 a.m., Assault, Sylvan Middle School. A passerby on Auburn Boulevard called to report hearing a verbal disturbance at Sylvan Middle School, where a female was seen on the ground with a male kicking her. The caller yelled at the male, who took off on foot and was last seen near Sylvan Corners. Disposition: assisted.

    2:58 p.m., Injury hit-and-run, Mariposa Ave. A caller reported that a hit-and-run accident had occurred at Mariposa Avenue and Heredia Drive “about 2 hours ago.” The incident reportedly involved a gray Ford F-150 and a white SUV, with the male driver of the F-150 sustaining a head injury. Disposition: report taken.

    Monday, Feb. 22, 2016:  Total of 66 incidents listed.

    12:41 a.m., Disturbance loitering, Carl’s Jr. Police were advised that a man was reportedly sleeping in the dining room of Carl’s Jr. at San Juan and Greenback Lane, after hours. Employees were reportedly waiting outside and no one wanted to wake the man. Disposition: advised.
    6:44 p.m., Assault with weapon, Almaden Way. A caller said he was walking his dog around 1:45 p.m. Monday when his dog barked at someone in the bushes at Madison Avenue and Almaden Way. A person reportedly jumped out of the bushes, tried to kick the caller's dog, and then pulled out a knife and said he was going to "cut him up and kill him." Disposition: Unable to locate. [follow text="Get police/crime updates:"] 1:56 p.m., Stolen vehicle, Sycamore Dr. A caller said his gray 2006 Nissan Frontier had been taken from the church parking lot of Trinity Ministry Baptist Church on Sycamore Drive. The caller said the vehicle had been stolen in the last 10-15 minutes. Disposition: report taken. Other incidents of note: 13 disturbance-related (noise, verbal, etc.), 12 homeless-related, three stolen vehicle-related calls, four assaults reported. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016: Total of 50 incidents listed. 8:24 a.m., Stolen vehicle, Longford Dr. A report was made regarding an overnight theft of a vehicle from inside a garage on Longford Drive. Keys were not with the vehicle. Make and model were not included in incident log. Disposition: report taken. 9:37 a.m., Homeless camp, Auburn Blvd. A homeless camp was reported under the pedestrian bridge behind Costco, with "lots of garbage on the ground from the leftover camp" needing to be cleaned up. Disposition: advised.     Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016: total of 65 incidents listed.

    12:18 a.m., Jack In The Box, DUI — A driver allegedly fell asleep at a stop light before parking at Jack In The Box at Antelope Road and Sunrise Boulevard. The incident was listed by police as “driving under the influence.” Disposition: assisted.

    9:49 a.m., Walmart market, road rage — A caller was reportedly walking to his vehicle when a man in a silver vehicle allegedly pulled into the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot on Sunrise Boulevard, began yelling, took his jacket off and challenged the caller to a fight. After going inside the store to call police, the caller reported that the silver vehicle had left the scene. Disposition: advised; listed as road rage, reckless driving.

    2:51 p.m., Walmart, pedestrian-vs-vehicle — Police responded to a reported injury collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the Auburn Boulevard Walmart. Disposition: report taken.

    Monday, Feb. 8, 2016: total of 55 incidents listed.

    3:15 a.m., Peoria Drive, hit-and-run – A caller told police that his girlfriend had showed up and rammed his vehicle with her car, while he was parked down the street on Peoria Drive, near Greenback Lane. She reportedly left in a tan Honda Accord. Disposition: report taken; listed as hit-and-run, non-injury.
    8:34 p.m., Van Maren Lane, collision -- A vehicle-versus-power pole collision involving a white pickup truck with a trailer was reported in front of “Jesus Name Lighthouse” church on Van Maren Lane. The incident was listed as involving unknown injuries. Disposition: report taken. 7:15 p.m., Greenback Lane, pedestrian-vs-vehicle – A driver called police to report they had hit a pedestrian in the roadway at Burger King on the 8000 block of Greenback Lane. Police later confirmed the pedestrian's injuries were not life-threatening. Disposition: assisted. Disposition: report taken; listed as verbal disturbance. 8:58 a.m., Speedy Smog, vandalism – Citrus Heights police were called regarding an employee who had been fired the prior day and allegedly damaged a company computer on his way out. The incident occurred at Speedy Smog on Auburn Boulevard. Disposition: advised.
