  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: May 16-18

    Latest Citrus Heights police logs in May include a gun being pulled on a parent at a child care center, trouble with homeless camps, and several thieves making off with a load of alcohol from Safeway.

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from May 16 to May 18, 2016:

    May 16, 2016: Total of 53 incidents listed.

    9:56 a.m., Homeless Camp, Citibank on Sunrise Blvd. A large amount of garbage was reportedly left behind by transient campers.

    6:05 p.m., Burglary, Sungarden Dr. A neighbor called to report that the front door of the house next to them was damaged and entry appeared to have been made.

    May 17, 2016: Total of 52 incidents listed.
    Incident report categories of note: 11 disturbance-related, 4 homeless-related, 1 burglary, 5 petty thefts, 4 assault reports, 3 stolen vehicle reports.

    9:38 a.m., Assault, Autumn Ridge Apartments. A caller reported being “grabbed by the throat” by a neighbor and was “being chased down the street.” The caller declined medical.

    1:30 p.m., Grand theft, Stones Casino. A suspect was reported thieving from a gambling table inside the casino. The incident was caught on video, but the suspect was no longer present.

    5:24 p.m., Brandishing weapon, KinderCare Learning Center. A suspect in a black SUV had reportedly pulled a gun on a parent outside the KinderCare center on Purslane Way.

    May 18, 2016: Total of 54 incidents listed.
    Incident report categories of note: 10 disturbance-related, 1 homeless-related, 0 burglaries, 4 petty thefts, 3 assault reports, 4 stolen vehicle report.

    10:35 a.m., Robbery, Safeway on Greenback Ln. A caller reported multiple suspects had left the store with a large amount of alcohol. The caller went outside and approached the suspects who then drove their vehicle towards the caller in a “threatening manner.”

    3:46 p.m., Harassing phone calls, Hershberger Ct. Police were advised by a woman that she was receiving repeated phone calls from a recent house-cleaning client who accused her of stealing jewelry from their home. The woman said she had tried to get the person to stop calling, but was unsuccessful.

    Latest Citrus Heights police logs in May include several suspects allegedly trying to run a female victim over, phone lines being cut, and a $5,400 jewelry theft.

    8:41 p.m., Assault with a weapon. A female caller reported her home had been broken into by several suspects while she was inside. She said the suspects had strangled her and then tried to run her over in a red truck after she followed them on foot. Medics were dispatched to Baskin Robbins on Auburn Boulevard, where the caller was standing by.

    9:42 p.m., intoxicated person, Rite Aid on Auburn Blvd. Police were advised of a man in his 50s who was “harassing customers” at Rite Aid. He had reportedly been drinking alcohol.

    May 11, 2016: Total of 49 incidents listed.
    Incident report categories of note: 16 disturbance-related, 3 homeless-related, 4 burglaries, 5 petty thefts, 2 assault reports, 0 stolen vehicle reports.

    5:13 p.m., Fraud/forgery, Uplands Wy. A caller reported that an ex-boyfriend had written a $1,000 check from the caller’s checking account to himself.

    7:33 p.m., Burglary, Brockwood Wy. Police were advised that an “unknown subject” had damaged the caller’s garage door and made entry into the garage. Nothing was reported missing.

    8:09 p.m., Verbal disturbance, Woodside Elementary. A group of juveniles, several on bikes, were jumping on top of some sheds and shipping containers by Woodside Elementary, on Villa Oak Drive. Several parents had asked them to stop, but the juveniles reportedly “became belligerent” with them.

    May 12, 2016: Total of 54 incidents listed.

    9:33 a.m., Grand theft, Huntington Square Apartments. A caller reported the theft about $5,400 worth of jewelry from their residence. The theft had occurred last month at the apartments on Huntington Square Lane, off Sylvan Road.

    12:52 p.m., Vandalism, Walnut Dr. Phone lines had reportedly been cut “for the second time in the past 10 days” at a location on Walnut Drive, near Auburn Boulevard and Twin Oaks Avenue.

    2:42 p.m., Fraud/forgery, San Juan Ave. A caller was reportedly involved in a possible money order scam that ended up costing $2,800.

    12:38 p.m., Assault, San Juan/Madison. Two men were reportedly fighting outside of a gas station at the intersection, with one of the men “spraying the other with something.”

    12:52 p.m., Burglary, Salishan Apartments. Tools, including three Dewalt drills, were reported stolen from the office and recreational room. The apartments are located on Ramona Lane, off Auburn Boulevard.

    4:34 p.m., Disturbance loitering, Dollar Tree on Macy Plaza Dr. A panhandler in his 20s reportedly said he would not leave “until he gets a phone charger.” He had also “wrapped his shirt around his head and was running around mimicking a superhero.”

    4:28 p.m., Grand theft, Verizon Wireless at Birdcage Center. A man in his mid-30s reportedly walked into the store, grabbed three Samsung Galaxy phones and ran outside. Estimated loss: $2,300.
    6:08 p.m., Assault with a weapon, Jack In The Box on Sunrise Blvd. A caller requested an ambulance and said another person had kicked him in the throat and hit him with a grey pole. The two parties reportedly knew eachother. May 4, 2016: Total of 49 incidents listed. Incident report categories of note: 15 disturbance-related, 3 homeless-related, 3 burglaries, 3 petty thefts, 7 assault reports, 2 stolen vehicles reported. 6:21 a.m., Reckless driving, Smoke Tree Ct. A caller reported that a black suburban had been driving onto the street "on the hour and every hour," for the past 12 hours. The vehicle was also described as driving recklessly, with the driver at one point getting out to hang up "some sort of cultural skull artwork." 4:23 p.m., Verbal disturbance, Smart & Final. Picketers were reportedly in front of the new Smart & Final store at the corner of Madison Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard. The store had just opened that day and picketers were allegedly "starting to become verbal with customers." 5:21 p.m., Fraud/forgery, Rite Aid, Sunrise Blvd. A man in his 30s reportedly tried to pass a fake $50 bill inside the store before proceeding outside and yelling that they needed to accept the bill.     11:37 a.m., Brandishing weapon, Peoria Dr. Police were advised that a man had a knife and shotgun pulled on him.

    3:21 p.m., Assault, Greenback Ln. A bearded man in his 60s reportedly became upset with another customer at Loree’s Little Shack on Greenback Lane and threw him to the ground. The caller wanted to file charges. The incident was reportedly recorded on video surveillance.

    4:46 p.m., Verbal disturbance, Sunrise Blvd. A caller reported that a light blue Kia had followed and tailgated her and also “screeched brakes” in front of her vehicle. She said the driver was a man in his mid-20s, driving a light blue Kia. He also reportedly smiled at her and yelled profanities.

    April 27, 2016: Total of 39 incidents listed.

    1:51 a.m., Brandishing weapon, Birdcage Village Apartments. A man was reportedly standing outside of the apartments “swinging a knife around and holding a gallon of milk.”

    10:48 a.m., Vandalism, Pacheco Wy. A caller reported that the side door to their garage had been “kicked in again.” Entry had only been made to the garage, not the main house.

    5:00 p.m., Verbal disturbance, McDonald’s on Madison Av. Police were advised by CHP that a transient “was throwing ketchup packets” at a man who had called 911. The line had disconnected after the caller said he was going to “take down” the transient until police arrived.

    April 28, 2016: Total of 42 incidents listed.

    9:01 a.m., Stolen vehicle, San Juan Park. A caller reported seeing a female slip a “slim jim” into a vehicle in the parking lot of San Juan Park on Mariposa Avenue. She then “hotwired” the vehicle and drove off.

    12:34 p.m., Petty theft, Poppy Wy. A man reportedly stole several trash cans full of recyclables from a carport and fled in a black Honda Civic.

    12:48 p.m., Grand theft, Sunrise Mall. An employee reportedly stole $3,000 in cash from the register at Choice Fashion store inside Sunrise Mall.

    6:06 p.m., Petty theft, nail salon. A mother reportedly left her 7 and 15-year-old daughters to have their nails done at Nail Innovations salon on Auburn Boulevard. Upon returning, the mother did not go into the store and wanted her daughters to come out to her. The trio then left without paying.

    April 20, 2016: Total of 49 incidents listed.

    9:15 a.m., Vandalism, Chevron. An angry female customer reportedly drove off after throwing a squeegee at the front door of the Chevron at Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane. The incident allegedly caused a crack to appear in the glass.

    3:40 p.m., Assault with a weapon, Mariposa Ave. A woman was reportedly screaming in the parking lot of San Juan Park. She had possibly been hit in the face with a pole, but was not answering any questions.

    10:04 p.m. Petty theft, Raley’s. Several theft suspects reportedly left the Raley’s store on Lichen Drive with $800 of merchandise. The suspects drove off towards Antelope Road in a blue truck.

    10:10 p.m., Disturbance loitering, Wendy's on Antelope Road. A homeless man was reportedly "laying on the ground" near the drive-thru speaker at Wendy’s and was yelling at customers. 11:09 p.m., Vehicle burglary, Oak Ave. A caller said an interior light was observed on inside a truck on Oak Avenue just before 11 p.m. The occupant(s) sped off in a white 1996 Chevy Silverado after seeing the caller. The door of the truck was reportedly pried, but nothing was missing. The caller said the suspect vehicle was known to the area and listed three prior incidents that had gone unreported. The suspect was described as a woman in her twenties or thirties, with a baby in a stroller.
