    Latest police logs include multiple issues with transients at various businesses, a low-budget shoplifter at Walmart being caught with less than $10 worth of items, and a 14-foot flatbed truck being stolen from a new business just days after it opened.

    Tuesday July 24, 2018: Total of 69 incidents listed
    Incident report categories of note: 32 calls regarding suspicious activities, 11 disturbance-related, 5 homeless/transient-related, no petty theft, no grand thefts, 3 burglaries, 4 assaults, and 2 domestic violence reports.

    1:45 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Antelope Road. Police responded to a call from a person reporting they heard knocking at the back door, but that the motion sensor lights had not activated and no one was there. Disposition listed: Checks Ok.

    5:00 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Parrot Planet, Auburn Blvd. A black, 14-foot flatbed truck with side rails and a six-foot ramp was reportedly stolen from outside Parrot Planet, which recently opened up shop on Auburn Boulevard. A small box including bindings and equipment was also stolen. Disposition listed: Report taken.

    8:21 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Garry Oak Drive. Police responded to a foreclosed residence where five men in a black Nissan truck were reportedly cutting up and taking items out of the walls, along with doors, appliances and plumbing. According to the report, it was unknown if they were from the bank or stealing. Disposition listed: Unfounded.

    9:19 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, Pacific Coast Foods, Greenback Lane. Police were notified regarding a contract employee accused of embezzling money from the store. Disposition listed: Report taken.

    9:22 a.m. Suspicious Vehicle, 7-Eleven at Van Maren/Auburn. A caller requested police assistance in asking the occupants of an RV in the parking lot to leave the premises. The white RV with green and purple trim was occupied by three suspected drug users and had been in the parking lot for over an hour. Disposition listed: Gone on arrival. About five hours later, another log entry indicates the RV returned and the individuals were reportedly throwing lit cigarettes out of the vehicle and were blocking the delivery entrance. The disposition for the second call was listed as: “Checks ok.”

    11:50 a.m. Suspicious circumstances, Rusch Park, Auburn Blvd. A shirtless man was reportedly jumping on the fence near the pool and “glaring at the children.” Disposition listed: Assisted.

    12:23 p.m., McDonald’s at San Juan/Madison. Police were called when a man panhandling in the drive thru pushed the person asking him to leave. The caller, who was not injured, took a photo of the suspect who was last seen pushing a tan shopping cart nearby. Disposition listed: Assisted.

    3:09 p.m., Shoplifting, Walmart on Sunrise Blvd. Police were called regarding a shoplifting suspect who was in custody for theft under $10. The suspect was reportedly refusing to give ID, other than their name and social security number. Disposition listed: Cancelled.

    3:49 p.m., Assault, Wendy’s on Greenback Lane. Police were notified of a man and woman pushing each other in the parking lot of BevMo. The man reportedly threw the woman’s bicycle into traffic on Greenback Lane. Disposition listed: Assisted.

    4:55 p.m., Verbal Disturbance, Jamba Juice on Sunrise Blvd. A verbal disturbance was reported when juveniles selling candy in front of the store started spitting on the windows. They were last seen on foot headed towards Old Navy. Disposition listed: Gone on arrival.

    5:17 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Glen Arbor Wy. A woman from Santa Rosa called CHPD to request a welfare check on a newborn kitten that had been left with her boyfriend. The boyfriend’s roommate was allegedly under the influence of speed and was violent and had a gun, so the boyfriend had left. The woman was unsure if anyone else was in the house. Disposition listed: Checks Ok.

    6:47 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Lialana Wy. Two men with heavy builds in a red pickup truck allegedly started dumping garbage, including a large mattress and other trash, in front of a caller’s property. When asked to leave, the men refused. Not wanting to get into a fight, the caller notified police. Disposition listed: Advised.

    8:33 p.m. Disturbance Loitering, Walgreens at Sunrise/Greenback. Officers responded to a call regarding multiple transients with backpacks who were suspected of stealing from the store, including one suspect that attempted a grab and dash for cigarettes and were now refusing to leave the parking lot. Disposition listed: Gone on arrival.

    Latest police logs include reports of a homeless man swinging nunchucks on Sunrise Boulevard, a wallet and laptop being stolen from a motorcycle, and a neighbor complaining about water balloons being lobbed at her car.

    7:00 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Family Taekwondo on Sunrise Blvd. A homeless man in his 50s was reportedly observed “twirling nunchucks” outside of a martial arts center around 7 a.m. Pieces of the nunchucks were “flying off” as the man twirled them around, so the caller advised they were likely made of foam or had a foam covering. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

    9:14 a.m., Driving Under the Influence, Sunrise Mall. A silver BMW was reportedly observed running red lights and crashing into the center divider on northbound Sunrise Boulevard near the mall. Disposition listed: arrest.

    10:39 a.m., Homeless Camp, B Uppal Insurance on Uplands Wy. A homeless camp with blankets and “feces all over” was reported near an insurance office behind the Sunrise Village shopping center. No one was occupying the camp at the time police were notified, but the caller believed the camp to be active. Disposition listed: advised.

    10:58 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Smoley/Lauralyn. People were reportedly living out of an RV that was parked several blocks away from Woodside K-8 school. The RV had no license plates and someone had spray painted “TOW AWAY” on it. Disposition listed: assisted.

    11:08 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Tiara Wy. Police were contacted by a woman who said her neighbor’s children were allegedly “intentionally hitting her vehicle with water balloons.” The woman was “very frustrated” about the issue and said she had tried to contact the children’s parents, but they would not answer the door. The phone line disconnected while police were talking to the woman. Disposition listed: advised.

    1:31 p.m., Petty Theft, Mariposa Ave. A caller notified police that a silverware set had been missing since April. The caller suspected a landscaper was the culprit, but did not have any evidence. Disposition listed: checks ok.

    2:34 p.m., Collision Unknown Injury, O’Reilly Auto Parts on Greenback Ln. An officer responded to a collision involving a vehicle vs. bicyclist. Injuries were unknown. Disposition listed: assisted.

    3:01 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Sunrise Recreation & Parks on Antelope Rd. Police were notified about an ongoing camping issue involving a pair of motorhomes parked on parks district property. When asked to leave, they reportedly said “it is their right to park” at the location. Disposition listed: advised.

    4:06 p.m., Grand Theft, Woodmore Oaks/Tarocco. A pair of Samsung phones, as well as a wallet and laptop were reportedly stolen from a motorcycle. Police were told that the phone was being tracked to a nearby residence and the caller said he/she was en route to the location. Disposition listed: assisted.

    8:41 p.m., Domestic Violence, Greenback Gardens Apartments. A caller told police their neighbors were in a loud verbal argument with screaming, which sounded like it was getting physical. Disposition listed: arrest.

    11:04 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Scoreboard Bar on Auburn Blvd. A homeless man in a wheelchair was reportedly refusing to leave the bar and was yelling at people and “threw his laundry all over the bar.” When police were contacted, the man had moved outside but had his belongings still inside. Disposition listed: advised.

    6:54 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Streng Ave. Police were advised that someone was sleeping in the back seat of a vehicle that had been parked in front of a residence for over an hour. Disposition listed: arrest.

    10:56 a.m., Homeless Camp, Sunrise Vista Mobile Home Park on Sunrise Blvd. Several transients with alcohol were reported to be playing loud music behind the mobile home park. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

    2:45 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Hillspire Ct. A vehicle that was left for a few days on a court near Twin Creeks Park was discovered to have its ignition ripped out. No further details were listed. Disposition listed: checks ok.

    3:05 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Check Into Cash on Auburn Blvd. A fraudulent returned check was reported to police. The amount was not specified. Disposition listed: Advised.

    3:14 p.m., Grand Theft, Starling Ct. A caller informed police that his wife’s wedding ring and jewelry were stolen while he was visiting her gravestone. The caller noted his 35-year-old transient grandson was at the residence when he was away. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    7:18 p.m., Assault, Greenback/San Juan. A caller reported seeing someone get out of a vehicle on Greenback Lane, walk up to another vehicle, and begin punching one of the occupants in the face.     8:45 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Sun Hill Dr. A caller told police their neighbor’s daughters were “sitting on lawn chairs in the garage with the hose running.” The caller further specified that the girls were “not playing with the water or watering any plants, just running.” Disposition listed: civil problem.

    8:53 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. A man called police after his son, who was on steroids and cocaine, was reportedly “breaking down the door.”

    11:22 p.m. Shoplifting, Target on Sunrise Blvd. A male suspect with an outstanding warrant was taken into custody for shoplifting at the Target store on Sunrise Boulevard. Disposition listed: arrest.

    5:50 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Panera Bread on Greenback Ln. A call was received by police shortly before 6 a.m. regarding a man sitting in the patio area of Panera Bread with a “plastic bag over his head.” The only other details given were that he appeared to be breathing.     10:45 a.m., Homeless Camp, Greenback Ln. and Indian River Dr. A 33-year-old transient man had reportedly set up camp under a bridge and was refusing to leave the area. The incident was described as an ongoing issue with the man, who was also reportedly a drug user. Disposition listed: advised.

    11:19 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, Auburn Oaks Ct. A caller told police she had received a text message notifying her that she had won $86,000. The caller said she had bought a $750 iTunes card and sent it to them “so they could process the paperwork to get her the $86,000.” Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    3:49 p.m., Burglary, California Family Fitness, Sunrise Blvd. Police were informed that unknown suspects had cut a lock and stole property from the building. No further details were given. Disposition listed: report taken

    3:59 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, SAS Shoes, Greenback Ln. A caller told police she believed someone had “tampered” with the engine of her vehicle.     10:16 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Rollingwood Blvd. A woman reported to police that she believed her ex-boyfriend broke into her house last night and “urinated all over her bed.” Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

    10:55 a.m., Burglary, 24 Hour Fitness on Auburn Blvd. A woman reported her iPhone had been stolen from a locker at the fitness club and that she was currently tracking it to a nearby address. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    12:41 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Safe Credit Union on Sunrise Blvd. Police responded to a report of a man walking around the bank and standing behind the bushes at the drive-thru ATM. He appeared to be watching the ATM and parking lot. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    1:59 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, AM/PM on Greenback Ln. A person getting gas reportedly “drove off with pump and hose” and was headed eastbound on Auburn Boulevard. Disposition listed: advised.

    3:27 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. A man told police that his girlfriend had just called him and said two men had come to her apartment door, looked in the window, then knocked. When she didn’t answer, they turned the doorknob but it was locked. Disposition listed: assisted.

    3:45 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Saybrook Drive., An unknown homeless person entered the callers garage and reportedly slept inside for four hours. Disposition listed: assisted.

    4:29 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Eye Center Optometric on Greenback Ln. A man wearing a plaid shirt with a neon green undershirt, leopard leggings and brown boots was reportedly laying on the grass in front of the location grabbing his genitals and “inappropriately touching himself.” Disposition listed: advised.

    6:42 p.m., Assault, Yeoman Way. Police were contacted after a vehicle playing loud music pulled up in front of a residence on Yeoman Way, near the MarketPlace at Birdcage. When asked to turn down the music, the vehicle occupants reportedly approached the caller and punched them in the face. The victim received a black eye but declined medical attention.     9:31 p.m., Reckless Driving, Edgewater Apartments on Sunrise Vista Drive. Large fireworks were reportedly being thrown out of a white sedan with unknown plates. Disposition listed: advised.

    5:20 a.m., Verbal Disturbance, Donut King on Greenback Ln. A caller told police that a woman under the influence of meth, who was also “known to carry knives,” was not allowing them to leave. Disposition listed: assisted.

    9:04 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, HD Supply on Greenback Ln. A man and woman were reportedly living inside two vehicles parked behind HD Supply and had been parked in the same location since the prior day. The pair were believed to be using drugs, and police were told the woman “carries a baseball bat when walking around.” The caller requested the two be shown on their way.     9:08 a.m., Suspicious Circumstance, Salishan Apartments on Patricks Ln. An apartment resident dropped by the police department’s front desk and requested to speak with an officer regarding “advice on how to handle situations at home.” Disposition listed: advised.

    12:31 p.m., Arson, Cricket Wireless on Madison Ave. A transient in his 40s was reportedly “burning cardboard” at the Cricket Wireless store on Madison Avenue.     2:25 p.m., Petty Theft, Dollar Tree on Macy Plaza Dr. Police were contacted after three suspects reportedly shoplifted several items from the store and were seen remaining in the area.     Latest police logs include theft at Burlington Coat Factory on San Juan Avenue, two F-250 trucks reported stolen within a half-mile of each other, a homeless camp being set up near Food Maxx, and an arrest made after an incident inside McDonald’s.

    6:39 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Birdcage Village Apartments on Birdcage St. A grey Ford F-250 was reported stolen overnight. No suspect information was known. Disposition listed: report taken.

    6:51 a.m., Burglary, Lichen Drive. A construction office was broken into over the weekend. Several items were reported stolen, including a radio and camera system. Disposition listed: report taken.

    9:34 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Renaissance Apartments on Greenback Lane. Another F-250 was also reported stolen from an apartment complex on the 7700 block of Greenback Lane. The truck was described as a dark grey 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4×4 truck, with “gun stickers.” The theft occurred less than a half-mile away from another truck reported stolen the same day on Birdcage Street.     5:35 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sams Club on Greenback Lane. Police responded to a call regarding a “habitual shoplifter” who had reportedly left the store carrying a pair of black bags and a cane and had been yelling profanities inside the store. It was unknown if he had stolen merchandise, as he had refused to allow his bags to be searched. Police were advised that the man had stolen $500 worth of merchandise the last time he was in the store. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    7:52 p.m., Petty Theft, Burlington Coat Factory on San Juan Ave. Police were called after three women reportedly ran out of the store with stolen clothing and left in a black Honda Accord. The trio were also observed with children in the back seat and were last seen heading south on San Juan Avenue. Disposition listed: assisted.

    8:42 p.m., Homeless Camp, Food Maxx on Sunrise Blvd. A homeless man with a chair was reportedly setting up camp in the parking lot across from Planet Fitness and Food Maxx. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    9:23 p.m., Verbal Disturbance, McDonald’s at Greenback/Auburn. A man suspected of being high on drugs was reportedly inside McDonald’s yelling at customers and refusing to leave. Disposition listed: arrest.

    12:49 a.m., Suspicious Circumstance, Sunrise Mall. Police were informed that a man was observed riding on a bicycle near Sunrise Mall with another bicycle in his hand, shortly before 1 a.m. The caller was concerned that the man may have stolen the second bike.     1:01 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Westgate Drive. A beer bottle was reportedly thrown out of a pickup truck at a car parked in a driveway on Westgate Drive, causing damage to the car’s door. The truck involved was a dark-colored pickup truck with an unknown license plate number. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    6:35 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Smith Optometry, Auburn Blvd. Police were informed about a transient man who decided to sleep at the front door of an optometry business on the 8000 block of Auburn Boulevard.     7:55 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, McDonald’s at Madison/San Juan. A homeless woman reportedly spent the night outside McDonald’s and had “all her belongings spread out in the outdoor table area” and was refusing to leave. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

    9:00 a.m., Vandalism, Rollingwood Blvd. A call was received informing police of stolen surveillance cameras off the front of a house, with a loss totaling $400. The caller said she had received a text from her ex who took credit for the act. Disposition listed: assisted.

    1:32 p.m., Burglary, Brook Dale Drive. Personal items were reportedly stolen from a location near Rusch Park on Brook Dale Drive. Police were advised that video and suspect information was available. Disposition listed: report taken.

    3:09 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Monte Corita Circle. Police were contacted after a woman was refusing to leave the doorstep of a residence on Monte Corita Circle, located several blocks from Mercy San Juan Medical Center.     7:54 p.m., Assault with Weapon, Oaks at Stock Ranch on Sylvan Rd. A group of transients reportedly surrounded a caller’s female friend in a greenbelt area behind an apartment complex on Sylvan Road. One of them, described as a white male in dark clothing, was armed with a crowbar and would not let her leave the area. Disposition listed: Arrest

    10:19 p.m., Collision Unknown Injury, Auburn/Walnut. A white sedan with its driver-side door open was reportedly observed in the middle of the road at Auburn Boulevard and Walnut Drive, after an apparent collision. Police were advised that it was unknown what the vehicle hit or if there were any injuries. The log also stated “fire has been started,” either indicating the vehicle had caught on fire or that Metro Fire had already been dispatched. Disposition listed: assisted.

    1:07 a.m., Suspicious Circumstance on Sunrise Blvd. A thief had reportedly stolen a tractor from an empty lot and had been seen driving it down the street on Sunrise Boulevard around 1 a.m. A fence around the lot appeared to have been tampered with. Disposition listed: assisted.

    4:28 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances on Dunmore Ave. An elderly woman called to report that several men could be heard yelling outside around 4:30 a.m., with one overheard saying, “do you want to pull off the job.” The incident was reported near Brooktree Park.     6:07 a.m., Disturbance Loitering at Spring Creek Apartments on Greenback Ln. A handful of individuals were reported to be engaging in some dumpster diving outside an apartment complex, while a fellow female was bathing in a faucet attached to a nearby wall. Disposition listed: “Field I.D.”

    8:38 a.m. Suspicious Circumstances on Auburn Blvd. A male caller said his daughter kept “coming to his house to harass him.” He also said he was missing a spare key. Disposition listed: advised.

    2:06 p.m. Suspicious Circumstance at Auburn/Greenback. A caller reported seeing a passenger in a minivan point a paintball gun out of a window while driving on Greenback Lane. The vehicle was described as a grey, newer model minivan with yellow tape over a brake light and an unknown license plate number. Disposition listed: advised.

    2:16 p.m., Assault at Old Auburn/Sylvan. The driver of a white Acura sedan reportedly tried to run someone over and then drove off going northbound on Sylvan Road. Disposition listed: report taken.

    5:45 p.m. Assault on Lee Drive. Police were advised that a mentally ill female had started a fire in the backyard of a residence on Lee Drive, near Twin Oaks and Mariposa avenues. After the fire was put out, she then assaulted one of her siblings, who then called police. She was currently “in a tent” in the backyard at the time police were notified.     6:53 p.m. Petty Theft at Walgreens at Greenback/Sunrise. A bearded Pepsi-stealing transient was reported to have been bothering customers at Walgreens and had stolen more than a few other items from the store. He was sitting in the parking lot at the time police were contacted. Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    10:32 p.m. Disturbance at the Sunrise Commons Apartments on Sunrise Blvd. Police were advised of an ongoing issue at an apartment complex involving a loud stereo with karaoke. The caller said the issue had been going on for the past four days and requested to remain anonymous.

    8:02 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Avis/Budget Rental on Auburn Blvd. A white Budget rental vehicle was reportedly stolen from Avis/Budget Rental on Auburn Boulevard. It had last been seen at the location at 7:30 p.m. the prior evening. Disposition listed: report taken.

    11:09 a.m., Homeless Camp, ARCO at Auburn/Cook. Police were notified that a homeless camp with tarps had been set up for the past two days next to the vacant ARCO building on Auburn Boulevard, near Cook Avenue. Disposition listed: advised.

    11:45 a.m., Petty Theft, Arcade Lake Ln. A caller told police that a neighbor who helped him move had allegedly stolen some of his prescription medications. Disposition listed: report taken

    2:37 p.m., Panhandling, Birdcage/Greenback. A man with a shopping cart and an 0ff-leash pit bull dog was reportedly holding a sign asking for money near Toys ‘R’ Us at Greenback Lane and Birdcage Street. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

    6:54 p.m., Petty Theft, Tenth Inning on Mariposa Ave. A caller told police they wanted to “file theft charges” after an employee at the Tenth Inning Tavern allegedly stole a lollipop from the caller.     7:39 p.m., Robbery, Carey Ln. Police responded to a report that a caller had been attacked and strangled by an unknown man on Carey Lane, near the Mariposa Avenue Church of Christ building. Disposition listed: assisted.

    7:46 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Birdcage Village Apts on Birdcage St. Several items, including a rear view mirror, CD’s and a gate opener, were reportedly stolen from a vehicle by a “known subject” who had gained access through an open window in the vehicle.     7:55 p.m., Assault, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. A group of 10-15 transients were reportedly fighting behind the Rusch Park Pool in a picnic area. Two were observed on the ground and another was seen throwing punches. Another caller reported the incident two minutes later in a separate police log, indicating that a “couple of dozen” people were involved in the fight and were now chasing each other towards the parking lot.     9:20 p.m., Stolen Vehicle, Circle K at Sunrise/Antelope. Police were advised by a caller who said they had just watched a suspect “drive off in someone else’s vehicle” at the Circle K gas station at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope Road. The female owner had also been seen yelling at the suspect to get out of her car as it drove off. The car involved was a Honda Civic, with black primer paint. Disposition listed: advised.
