    Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include reports of several transients living in tents on the roof of an animal hospital, window-smashers wearing “49er gear” burglarizing a vehicle at an apartment, and a group of teenage girls stealing makeup from Walgreens.

    Friday, Feb. 22, 2019: Total of 62 incidents listed.
    Incident report categories of note: 17 calls regarding suspicious activities, 17 disturbance-related, 10 homeless/transient-related, 1 grand theft, 5 petty thefts, 1 burglary, 1 assault report, 3 collisions, one stolen vehicle, and two reports of domestic violence.

    7:30 a.m., Vandalism, Brocade Dr. Police were advised by a caller that their unlocked vehicle was observed to have had its ignition damaged and the seat moved and in the reclined position. The caller advised that the vehicle would not turn on. The incident occurred on a sidestreet off Calvin Drive, near Mesa Verde High School.

    9:26 a.m., Homeless Camp, Sunrise Animal Hospital on Sunrise Blvd.  Two tents were reportedly seen “on the roof” of the Sunrise Animal Hospital building with homeless individuals currently inside the tents.

    9:59 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Java Detour on Auburn Blvd. An ongoing issue with transients harassing employees at Java Detour in the early morning hours was reported to police. The transients had also reportedly become aggressive in their behavior and have been “pound[ing] on the drive thru window wanting items from the business.”

    10:36 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Dimple Records on Macy Plaza Dr. A man with dreadlocks and dark clothing was reportedly “smoking something from a glass pipe” in front of Dimple Records and was also “taking up three parking spots,” with his belongings spread all around him.

    12:26 p.m., Petty Theft, Food Maxx on Sunrise Blvd. A man in his 30s reportedly threw two drinks at a caller after he was confronted for walking out of Food Maxx without paying for the drinks.

    1:26 p.m., Intoxicated Person, Carl’s Jr. at  Tupelo/Antelope. An intoxicated man was reportedly “in the bathroom screaming” at Carl’s Jr. Police were advised that the man had also been going in and out of the restaurant and alcohol could be smelled on him.

    1:46 p.m., Grand Theft, Cubesmart on Greenback Ln. Over $950 in tools and truck tires were reportedly stolen from a storage unit at Cubesmart on the 7500 block of Greenback Lane. Police were advised that the theft had occurred sometime in the past two months and entry was made by prying open the door of the storage unit.

    3:43 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Oak Creek Village Apartments on Greenback Ln. Police were called after two suspects wearing “49er gear” smashed a vehicle window at an apartment complex on the 7700 block of Greenback Lane. The pair were last seen fleeing on foot across an open field next to the apartments.

    3:51 p.m., Vandalism, Big 5 Sporting Goods on Greenback Ln. A suspect with a knife reportedly “cut up product and door” at Big 5, and also approached a manager and customer while holding the knife, but didn’t threaten anyone. The incident was described as an attempted burglary, but the suspect “didn’t get away with any items.”

    4:19 p.m., Vandalism, K’s Quik Mart on Auburn Blvd. Police were contacted after a woman refused to provide ID to purchase cigarettes and then got mad and reportedly threw a rock at the convenience store, causing damage to the glass.

    4:54 p.m., Homeless Camp, Sunrise Golf Course on Arcadia Drive. A man called police to request assistance, but “refuse[d] to say what its about or provide anything further,” according to dispatcher notes in the incident log. When asked by police dispatch why he wouldn’t provide more information, he reportedly said “why should I.” The incident was listed as relating to a homeless camp. No other details were included.

    9:18 p.m., Petty Theft, Walgreens at Greenback on Sunrise Blvd. A group of four teenage girls reportedly ran out of the Walgreens store at Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard with a hand basket filled with makeup items. A cashier tried to stop the teens, but was unsuccessful.

    Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include a rash of burglaries, several assault reports involving bystanders attempting to intervene, a sideshow near Rusch Park, and a man reportedly being “dumped out of a vehicle” near Antelope Road and Interstate 80.

    12:02 a.m., Assault, Hot Pot Express on Antelope Rd. A caller told police they had tried to break up a fight after seeing two men in a physical altercation around midnight in the parking lot of Hot Pot Express. One of the men was hit in the face. No weapons were involved.

    2:34 a.m., Assault, McDonald’s at Old Auburn/Sunrise. Police were called after a bystander saw a man assault his girlfriend and intervened to help the woman. The caller was then hit in the face by the man.

    8:56 a.m., Burglary, Mariposa Ave. A barn on Mariposa Avenue was reportedly burglarized at some point during the night.

    9:48 a.m., Petty Theft, Once Upon A Child on Greenback Ln. Police were advised that a woman had stolen a $90 stroller from a children’s store that purchases used clothing and baby gear from customers and re-sells them. The woman reportedly brought in some used items to the store and provided all her personal information during the exchange. She then took a $60 check for the items and then left without paying for the stroller.

    10:05 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. A group of six to 10 individuals were reportedly seen loitering at Rusch Park, several of whom were believed to have “set benches on fire” the prior day.

    11:03 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Highland Ave. Several saws and other items were reportedly stolen from a locked truck on Highland Avenue. The items were valued at a minimum of $3,700.

    11:50 a.m., Reckless Driving, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. A sideshow involving reckless driving was reportedly observed on Auburn Boulevard at the entrance to Rusch Park, involving at least six trucks and a motorcycle.

    3:31 p.m. Panhandling, Antelope/Lichen. A group of transients were reportedly seen panhandling at an intersection on Antelope Road, accompanied by dogs and shopping carts.

    3:41 p.m., Petty Theft, Tenth Inning on Mariposa Ave.  An iPhone 8+ was reportedly stolen from a vehicle outside the Tenth Inning bar on Mariposa Avenue while the window was rolled down.

    7:01 p.m., Throwing substance at vehicle, Old Auburn/Sunrise. A man was reportedly standing on the side of Sunrise Boulevard “throwing unknown objects at passing southbound vehicles.” One of the objects, described as possibly pieces of metal pipe, had reportedly hit the caller’s vehicle.

    7:02 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Antelope/I-80. A man was reportedly “dumped out of a vehicle” and was laying on the road near Antelope Road and Interstate 80.

    7:19 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Dollar Tree at San Juan/Greenback. Two men in a black Ford Taurus were reportedly observed burglarizing a vehicle in the Dollar Tree parking lot.

    11:59 p.m., Assault, Phat Chads Tavern on Auburn Blvd. A fight between two men occurred inside Phat Chads Tavern shortly before midnight. Bar staff had reportedly been able to get one of the men to go outside, but he kept “sending other people in to make threats to the male inside.”

    1:43 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Conover Drive. A caller told police someone was ringing their doorbell in the middle of the night.

    4:58 a.m., Petty Theft, Donegal/Louth. Police were contacted shortly before 5 a.m. after a resident reported seeing someone loitering in their neighbor’s yard, “stealing landscaping bark and a door.”

    9:06 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Greenback/Fountain Square. A man was reportedly seen”throwing items at passing vehicles” on Greenback Lane at Fountain Square Drive, about a block away from the police station.

    12:44 p.m., Homeless Camp, Greenback/Fountain Square. Several transients were observed setting up camp in a business complex at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Fountain Square Drive.

    4:27 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Paradise Laundry on Greenback Ln. A transient man was reportedly mumbling and harassing customers outside a laundromat near the intersection of San Juan Avenue and Greenback Lane. The caller said the man was also blocking the door at times.

    5:22 p.m., Petty Theft, Donegal Drive. A vehicle was rummaged through on Donegal Drive, with the caller reporting the vehicle’s registration and other items missing.

    7:36 p.m., Collision Unknown Injury, Fair Oaks/Villa Oak. Police were contacted after a vehicle reportedly ran off the road and got stuck in a creek.

    8:35 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Taco Bell at Antelope/Sunrise. A caller told police they believed guns were being sold out of a white, windowless cargo van parked at the Taco Bell near Antelope Road and Sunrise Boulevard.

    9:11 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Michaels on Birdcage Centre Ln. Police were notified that someone was in the bathroom at Michaels and was refusing to leave.

    11:04 p.m., Intoxicated Person, Peppertree Wy. A man was observed hitting vehicles and yelling to himself on Peppertree Way, located in a residential neighborhood several blocks away from Raley’s. The man had reportedly been drinking.

    11:40 p.m., Assault, Corner Pocket Sports Bar on Sunrise Blvd. About 10 men were reportedly fighting at a sports bar at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope Road shortly before midnight.

    1:40 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Louth/Donegal. A woman called police and said she was following a suspect vehicle “that recently robbed her house.”

    5:09 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, California Family Fitness on Sunrise Blvd. Several transients were reportedly “loitering and dancing” in a parking lot shortly after 5 a.m.

    9:00 a.m., Petty Theft, Sunrise Mall. Two individuals reportedly drove up to a receiving gate at Macys Womens and “clipped the chain” using bolt cutters. The incident was listed as petty theft, indicating that item(s) valued under $950 were stolen.

    11:04 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Spring Creek Apartments on Sun Hill Dr. A  woman called police and said her ex-husband had “filed his taxes and claimed the children.”

    11:09 a.m., Burglary, Imperial Manor Mobile Home Park on Auburn Blvd. A mobile home in a park on the 5900 block of Auburn Boulevard was reportedly ransacked, with stolen items including a safe and other valuables.

    4:36 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances, Grand Oaks Hair and Nails on Auburn Blvd. Police were advised that a transient who “used to live on the roof” of a hair salon on Auburn Boulevard had apparently used the salon’s address for receiving mail. The caller told police she was now receiving mail from an attorney company addressed in the transient’s name.

    5:31 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sylvan/Stock Ranch. An individual was reportedly seen “hugging a light pole” on Sylvan Road, near Stock Ranch Road.

    5:33 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Twin Oaks Ave. A neighbor told police that the garage door of another home on their block had been left open for several days.

    6:12 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Greenback Terrace Apartments on Birdcage St. Police were advised that an individual was fraudulently trying to rent out a residence, but was not the owner.

    6:37 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, O’Reilly Auto Parts on Greenback Ln. A woman told police that “a hand bomb” had been thrown at her around 2 a.m. that morning near Sam’s Tires & Wheels on Greenback Lane.

The caller’s boyfriend tackled the suspect and had him pinned down in the driveway when police were called. About 20 minutes prior, another caller reported a prowler incident several blocks away involving someone trying to get into a home on Verhoven Court.

    5:30 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Willowleaf Dr. A vehicle was reportedly parked in the middle of the road on a residential street near Van Maren Lane and Misty Creek Drive.

    7:54 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Safeway on Greenback Ln. Police were advised that a transient male was in front of Safeway with his pants down.

    8:18 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Freedom Ln. An unknown male with several bikes and electric scooters was observed in a creek area behind a residence in the Creekside Estates mobile home park off Greenback Lane.

    12:05 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Circle K on Sunrise Blvd. A man was reportedly throwing rocks and sticks in front of the Circle K gas station on Sunrise Boulevard. He was also observed hitting a nearby sign and punching a wall.

    1:26 p.m., Reckless Driving, Zenith/Antelope. A vehicle travelling westbound on Antelope Road was observed “driving on a rim” with sparks coming from the wheel.

    1:29 p.m., Disturbance Noise, Greenback/Fountain Square. Police were contacted about “very loud music” coming from the medical office building being constructed at the corner of Greenback Lane and Fountain Square Drive. The caller said their home backs up to the location and police were requested to “ask them to turn it down.”

    6:01 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Creekside Dental on Greenback Ln. A transient man was reportedly loitering in front of a dental building on Greenback Lane, near Auburn Boulevard. Police were advised that the man was responsible for starting “at least three fires” in recent months.

    6:35 p.m., Collision Injury, Mariposa/Circuit. An injury collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle was reported near Mariposa Avenue and Circuit Drive.

    6:52 p.m., Assault, Fair Oaks/Woodmore Oaks. An assault reportedly occurred following a vehicle accident on Fair Oaks Drive near Woodmore Oaks Drive.

    10:02 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Kohls on San Juan Ave. Police were notified that a suspicious individual was inside the store “stuffing a duffel bag with merchandise and removing the security tags,” but had not walked out yet.

    10:51 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Target on Sunrise Blvd. Several juveniles were reportedly in the center divide throwing rocks at passing vehicles, causing damage.

    11:28 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Round Table Pizza on Lichen Dr. Several transients reportedly approached a man outside Round Table Pizza and asked to get in his vehicle.

    11:43 a.m., Collision Injury, Carl’s Jr. at Antelope/Tupelo. Police were advised by a driver that someone on a scooter had run into his car while he was driving. The incident was listed as an injury collision.

    11:51 a.m., Brandishing Weapon, Rosie’s Country Kitchen on Auburn Blvd. A man driving a white Chevrolet vehicle reportedly “pulled a rifle” on another man while he was at the car wash across from Rosie’s Country Kitchen on Auburn Boulevard.

    12:22 p.m., Vandalism, Noodles & Company on Sunrise Blvd. Multiple subjects were reportedly “throwing cups of coffee at patrons” at the Noodles & Company restaurant in the Marketplace at Birdcage. They were also observed throwing coffee at vehicles passing through the parking lot.

    1:20 p.m., Grand Theft, Brayton Ave. A locked tool box in the bed of a pickup truck was broken into on Brayton Avenue, near Brooktree Park. About $1500 in tools were taken.

    1:52 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Arborelle Apartments on Sunrise Blvd.  A woman reportedly “pulled a gun” on a friend at an apartment complex. Police were advised that the woman “believes subjects are coming through the vents and is hearing a male voice.”

    1:55 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Mariposa Ave. A caller reported being blackmailed after “chatting with a female online.”

    1:59 p.m., Indecent Exposure, Del Taco on Greenback Ln. An incident involving indecent exposure was reported at the Del Taco restaurant at the corner of Greenback Lane and San Juan Avenue. No further description was included in the incident log.

    4:54 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Burger King on Sunrise Blvd. A man reportedly was seen taking a pistol out of the trunk of a cream-colored car and then put it in his waistband.

    7:07 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Sylvan Rd. A homeless man was reportedly trying to set up a camp behind a residence on Sylvan Road and was getting into a verbal argument with a resident who was trying to get him to leave.

    7:33 p.m., Driving Under the Influence, Food Maxx on Sunrise Blvd. Police were called after a driver reportedly “fell out” of his vehicle while attempting to get out. He then was seen stumbling around inside Food Maxx, apparently under the influence of alcohol.

    9:58 p.m., Assault w/Weapon, Greenback/Dewey. A caller told police that a male driver had stopped in the middle of the street near Greenback Lane and Dewey Drive, opened his door, and then shot a gun at the caller’s vehicle. No other information was included in the incident log, but Police Lt. David Gutierrez later told The Sentinel it appeared that responding officers “located a small dent in the reporting party’s car, not consistent with damage caused by a firearm.” He also said no other evidence was found to substantiate the use of a firearm and no witnesses were located. A report was taken documenting the incident.

    3:55 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Arborelle Apartments on Sunrise Blvd. A woman called police shortly before 4 a.m. and said she had been “hearing voices from inside and outside her apartment” for the past three weeks.

    7:08 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Dicus Ct. Police were contacted after a BMW was reportedly stolen while it was being warmed up on a dead-end court, off Lichen Drive.

    11:37 a.m., Homeless Camp, Stock Ranch Nature Preserve. A homeless camp was reportedly set up in the Stock Ranch Nature Preserve, near the dead end of Stock Ranch Road.

    12:28 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Argo Drive. A woman told police that an unknown suspect had impersonated her and re-mortgaged her home twice.

    1:02 p.m., Petty Theft, Awesome Blossom Flowers on Greenback Ln. A petty theft incident was reported at a flower shop on Greenback Lane, near San Juan Avenue. The incident log described the theft only as “beer run & flowers.”

    2:08 p.m., Collision Non Injury, Calvin Drive. Police were contacted after a vehicle reportedly went through a fence and hit a parked vehicle, near Calvin Drive.

    2:24 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Citrus Heights Community Center. Staff at the community center reported that a woman was believed to be using drugs in a back bathroom.

    2:32 p.m., Robbery, Sunrise Mall. A gold ring was reportedly taken from a JC Penny employee at Sunrise Mall. The incident was categorized as robbery, indicating the ring was taken from the employee by force or threat of force.

    2:40 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Cook/Mariposa. A woman was reportedly seen walking on Cook Avenue, carrying a black handgun.

    3:24 p.m., Reckless Driving, Auburn/Oak Grove. A woman was reportedly seen driving northbound on Auburn Boulevard with a flat tire.

    3:57 p.m., Disturbance Noise, Brookhaven Wy. Police received several calls alleging drug sales going on at a home on Brookhaven Way, as well as a continual issue with noise from a motorcycle at the same location. Complaints were also made regarding an “illegal room in the backyard and make shift trailer in the street for construction purposes.”

    4:02 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, McDonald Field on Old Auburn Rd. A homeless man was reportedly “living in the 3rd base dugout” at McDonald Field. Six others were also reported living in the baseball area.

    6:19 p.m., Petty Theft, Habit Burger on Sunrise Blvd. A mother called police and said an unknown woman had just stolen her child’s toy crown from off her head at Habit Burger.

    6:47 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Black Bear Diner on Madison Ave. A vehicle was broken into outside Black Bear Diner, with a wallet reportedly being stolen.

    8:34 p.m., Petty Theft, Walmart on Auburn Blvd. Police were contacted after a man reportedly filled a shopping cart at Walmart with $100-500 of merchandise and then walked out without paying.

    12:03 a.m., Petty Theft, Walgreens at Greenback/Dewey. A man reportedly grabbed $300 worth of prescription insulin from a counter and ran off without paying.

    12:47 a.m., Assault, North Colony Wy. A woman who had been drinking reportedly hit an Uber driver twice in the face. The incident occurred on a dead-end street near Twin Oaks Avenue and Holly Drive.

    9:15 a.m., Petty Theft, Misty Wood Wy. A resident let several people stay overnight, but sometime during the night the guests reportedly made off with a big-screen TV.

    12:15 p.m., Grand Theft, T-Mobile on Greenback Lane. Several demo phones were reported stolen from a T-Mobile store on Greenback Lane.

    12:19 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Dollar General on Auburn Blvd. A man was reportedly “using a golf club to hit trash into traffic” on Auburn Boulevard near Greenback Lane.

    2:06 p.m., Burglary, Silver Hands Massage on Antelope Rd. Police were notified that an unknown suspect had unsuccessfully tried to “remove” the rear door of a massage establishment, but no entry was made.

    2:12 p.m., Homeless Camp, Costco on Auburn Blvd. A homeless camp with multiple tents was reported near a creek behind Costco, with homeless individuals “living inside the bushes and trees.”

    2:36 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Golden One Credit Union on Sunrise Blvd. Police were notified that a woman was inside the bank trying to cash a stolen check.

    4:51 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Raley’s on Lichen Drive. A transient man was allegedly “trying to fight security and customers” outside the Raley’s grocery store on Lichen Drive. He was also making threats and yelling.

    8:44 p.m., Petty Theft, Starbucks on Sunrise Blvd. Two suspects reportedly stole a tip jar from the Starbucks location inside Barnes & Noble on Sunrise Boulevard.

    9:05 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Antelope/Auburn. A caller told police that an unknown male came up to him at an intersection and started yelling and tried to fight him.

    8:26 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Canyon Oak Dr. A motorcycle was reportedly stolen overnight from a location on Canyon Oak Drive, off Old Auburn Road.

    9:43 a.m., Collision Unknown Injury, Fair Oaks/Oak. Two cars reportedly “went through barricades” at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Oak Avenue.

    9:49 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Bank of America on Kingswood Dr. Police were contacted after a customer at Bank of America refused to leave and was “verbally abusing employees.”

    12:14 p.m., Homeless Camp, Kinder Care Learning Center. Police were notified of an ongoing problem with homeless camping on the other side of a fence at Kinder Care Learning Center, adjacent to the Interstate 80 off-ramp at Antelope Road. Another incident log was recorded about 25 minutes later after transients at the same location were reportedly “trying to speak to kids through the fence.”

    1:20 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sunrise/Greenback. An individual appeared to be burning a pair of sneakers at the bus stop on Sunrise Boulevard, near Sprouts.

    1:45 p.m., Petty Theft, Target on Sunrise Blvd. An employee reportedly stole $300-400 in cash from a register, along with video games.

    1:48 p.m., Homeless Camp, Sylvan Oaks Library on Auburn Blvd. At least two homeless tents were reportedly set up behind Sylvan Oaks Library, near the creek.

    3:37 p.m., Driving Under the Influence, Walmart. A drunk individual inside Walmart was reportedly “riding a bike through the store.”

    9:48 p.m., Assault, Auburn Blvd. Police were contacted by a male caller who said he was assaulted by his sister. Ages of the individuals involved were not listed.

    10:27 p.m., Disturbance Noise, Bremen Drive. A vehicle playing loud music was reportedly driving through a neighborhood near Greenback and Van Maren lanes after 10 p.m. The music was described as “so loud, it’s shaking the house.”

    Incident report categories of note: 21 calls regarding suspicious activities, 9 disturbance-related, 9 homeless/transient-related, no shoplifting incidents, 1 grand theft, 2 petty thefts, 3 burglaries, 5 assault reports, 4 collisions, no stolen vehicles and no reports of domestic violence.

    8:00 a.m., Homeless Camp, Sunrise Animal Hospital on Sunrise Blvd. A homeless camp with at least two people in it was reportedly set up in the old Abel’s Christmas Tree lot, next to Sunrise Animal Hospital.

    8:53 a.m., Burglary, Grand Oaks Elementary on Rosswood Drive. The nurse’s room at Grand Oaks Elementary was reportedly broken into sometime during the night. No further details were listed in the police log.

    9:39 a.m., Burglary, Greenback Terrace Apartments on Birdcage St. Several transients reportedly “made entry and took light fixtures” at an apartment complex on the 6300 block of Birdcage Street.

    10:00 a.m., Burglary, Kingswood Drive. A home on Kingswood Drive was reportedly burglarized and two cars were stolen.

    12:03 p.m., Assault, Jiffy Lube on Sunrise Blvd. A man and a woman were reportedly “assaulting each other” in front of the Jiffy Lube on Sunrise Boulevard, near Antelope Road.

    1:55 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Red Maple/Woodmore Oaks. Police were notified that a white Honda was “somewhat following” a UPS vehicle through the Woodmore Oaks neighborhood.

    4:22 p.m., Collision Non-Injury, Longford Dr. A caller told police they had just seen a driver “push over a sign” and then park and walk inside a nearby apartment.

    5:56 p.m., Grand Theft, Victoria’s Secret. A grand theft incident was reported at Sunrise Mall, involving the loss of more than $5,000 in apparel or money. No other details were included in the police log.

    7:24 p.m., Reckless Driving at Sunrise/Oak. A caller told police they were being followed by another vehicle and were advised to drive to the police department.

    8:17 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sunrise/Sayonara. Two subjects reportedly pushed a red shopping cart into traffic at Sunrise Boulevard and Sayonara Drive, almost causing a collision.
