    Latest local police logs include reports of a man with his pants down harassing people on Fair Oaks Boulevard, employees being threatened by shoppers at Grocery Outlet and Petsmart, and a juvenile throwing rocks at vehicles.

    Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019: Total of 59 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 16 calls regarding suspicious activities, 17 disturbance-related, 3 homeless-related, 5 petty thefts, no grand theft, 1 burglary, 3 assault reports, no hit-and-run collisions.

    3:01 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Gimbel Wy. A resident called police just after 3 a.m. to reporting finding a “male in daughters room.” Police were advised that the resident was holding the subject in the living room.

    8:49 a.m., Burglary, Stonehand Ave. A woman reportedly heard a dog inside her home as she put the key into her front door and told police she didn’t own a dog. The incident was listed as a burglary.

    9:46 a.m., Harassing Phone Calls, Prince St. Police were contacted by a woman who said that her and her grandsons phones had been remotely shut down by a known suspect. The suspect was also reportedly sending threatening text messages.

    10:11 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Grocery Outlet on Greenback Ln. A man in his 50s reportedly got into a verbal argument with employees at Grocery Outlet after attempting to shoplift from the store. Police were advised that the man had shown a knife to employees and said he was going to return, threatening violence.

    1:03 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Sunrise Creek Ct. Police were notified that a man was observed “piling up rocks and moving items around” behind a residence on Sunrise Creek Court, near Birdcage Street. The caller indicated the man appeared to be setting up a camp.

    1:45 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Greenback/Fair Oaks. A man in his 30s was reportedly observed with his pants down near Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Boulevard, waving his arms, yelling and harassing people passing by.

    3:58 p.m., Throwing Substance at Vehicle, Oak/Quiet Oak. A juvenile was reportedly throwing rocks at vehicles on Oak Avenue.

    4:05 p.m., Assault, Rusch Skate Park on Antelope Rd. Two people were observed fighting at the Rusch Skate Park, with a group of about 30 people around them.

    4:46 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Petsmart on Sunrise Blvd. After refusing to leave, a customer at Petsmart reportedly told employees she would have her husband return “to beat them up after closing.”

    7:12 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Sunrise Commons Apartments on Sunrise Blvd. Police were contacted by a resident who had been a victim of a phone scam, with a reported loss of $5,000.

    7:30 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Rite Aid at Madison/Sunrise. A customer reportedly attempted to pass a $100 counterfeit bill at Rite Aid. Another incident involving a fake $100 bill was also reported the same day at Tiffer’s Studio on Auburn Boulevard.

    9:15 p.m., Assault w/Weapon, 7-Eleven at Sperry/San Juan. Police were called after a suspect with a large metal rod was observed chasing another person and attempting to hit them.

    11:40 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, McDonald’s at Old Auburn/Sunrise. A man was reportedly approaching cars in the McDonald’s drive-thru area asking customers for rides. Police were called after he refused to leave.

  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: Victoria’s Secret, domestic violence, prowlers

    Latest local police logs include three women reportedly making off with over $5,000 in stolen merchandise from Victoria’s Secret, a rash of petty thefts, and a gun reported at the Rusch Skate Park.

    Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019: Total of 73 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 25 calls regarding suspicious activities, 15 disturbance-related, 6 homeless-related, 8 petty thefts, 1 grand theft, 1 burglary, 2 assault reports, 2 hit-and-run collisions.

    1:11 a.m., Domestic Violence, Atwood Apartments on Heritage Tree Ln. A female with blood on her was observed running out of an apartment screaming. A male was then reportedly observed pulling her back into the apartment.

    2:52 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. A vehicle was broken into at the Montage Apartment complex, with a wallet and military gear reported stolen.

    3:03 a.m., Prowler, Northlea Way. A woman called police after hearing someone walking on her roof around 3 a.m.

    2:16 p.m., Petty Theft, 99 Cent Store on Greenback Ln. Police were contacted after a male suspect reportedly shoved a shopping cart into a manager at the 99 Cent Store and threatened to assault another manager before making off with several stolen items. Medical attention was declined.

    3:27 p.m., Petty Theft, San Juan High School on Greenback Ln. A student at San Juan High School reported their phone had been stolen from a backpack within the past 30 minutes and was currently being tracked to a location near Sylvan.

    3:56 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Rusch Skate Park on Antelope Rd. Police were advised that a male at the skate park had pulled out a pistol and let a 10-year-old hold it. He also allegedly “waved it around” and said he had “used it before.”

    4:38 p.m., Reckless Driving, Mariposa Ave. Four juveniles were reportedly racing and speeding up and down Mariposa Avenue on small gas motorcycles.

    5:43 p.m., Grand Theft, Victoria’s Secret at Sunrise Mall. Police were contacted after three females with trash bags reportedly stole $5-7,000 worth of merchandise from Victoria’s Secret.

    9:27 p.m., Assault, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. An assault was reported at the softball field at Rusch Park. No weapons were involved, but one individual was listed as having a bat.

  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: criminal threats, ‘ticket switching,’ firearm theft

    Updated Sept. 10, 10:22 a.m.– Latest police logs include a caller receiving criminal threats after sending a birthday invite to the wrong number, a firearm being stolen in a vehicle burglary, and a customer at Walmart being caught for reportedly switching price tags to get a lower price on meat.

    Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019: Total of 74 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 23 calls regarding suspicious activities, 16 disturbance-related, 3 homeless-related, 4 petty thefts, 1 burglary, 4 assault reports, 2 hit-and-run collisions.

    12:02 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, The Couch Sports Lounge on Madison Ave. A man called police shortly after midnight and said he wanted to confess to “strangling someone in a nightclub last night.” The man said he had strangled a girl named Jasmine using “the cloth part of a thigh-high boot” and told police that the coroner had already picked up the body. He said he would be taking an Uber ride to the police station in order to turn himself in and speak with detectives. No further details were listed, but the log states there were no reports of a murder in the area during the time frame mentioned. A police lieutenant later told The Sentinel that officers had investigated the claim and determined it to have been unfounded.

    1:02 a.m., Criminal Threats Report, Woodruff Way. Police were contacted after a caller said they had accidentally sent a birthday invite to a friend’s former number. The individual who received the invite reportedly had replied by sending texts “threatening to show up with guns” or to rape the caller’s wife. The caller requested that officers call the number and tell them to stop.

    2:10 a.m., Domestic Violence, Crux Dr. A man called police shortly after 2 a.m. and said he was hiding in his bathroom from his wife, who was reportedly hitting him. No weapons were involved.

    5:25 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Grand Oaks Shopping Center on Grand Oaks Blvd. Police were advised about an ongoing issue with a red SUV camping in the Grand Oaks Shopping Center parking lot. The caller was concered about the area becoming a camping spot, as another vehicle and a motor home had also recently joined the red SUV.

    6:48 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Rollingwood Blvd. A man called to report that his wife had just heard someone trying to open the security door on his home. After looking outside, a black male adult wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans was seen walking away. The caller advised that he had also called two days before to report that a black male adult was “trying to crawl through his son’s window.” Disposition listed: unable to locate.

    8:43 a.m., Vandalism, Amsterdam Ave. A vehicle owner told police he had found his vehicle with all of its tires slashed and its windows smashed. The owner said he believed it was the same group of juveniles who had been “targeting him” for several months.

    8:52 a.m., Assault, AM/PM at Madison/San Juan. Two men were reportedly fighting in the parking lot outside the AM/PM convenience store at Madison Avenue and San Juan.

    10:19 a.m., Driving Under the Influence, Sunrise/Old Auburn. Police were advised that a possible DUI driver in a tan Toyota was observed swerving on the roadway. The driver also appeared to be “nodding off” at a stoplight on Sunrise Boulevard.

    11:57 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Dancing Creek Ct. An unknown man was reportedly observed knocking on doors near Bridgemont Way and Van Maren Lane, “asking for someone who doesn’t live there.” A caller said he was observed going up to each house on the block and “marking their doors with some sort of stick.” The individual was described as a black male adult in his 50s, carrying a bag.

    12:34 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Holland Ave. A vehicle was burglarized sometime during the night and a firearm, watches and miscellaneous items were reportedly stolen from a lock box inside the vehicle. Security footage was being sought from a neighbor’s camera.

    1:30 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Patton Ave. A woman said nude photos of herself from six years ago had been sent to her “most current ex-boyfriend” by her former ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend through Facebook Messenger.

    2:01 p.m., Vandalism, Paradise Oaks on Olivine Ave. Five clients at the Paradise Oaks Youth Services center were reportedly “trying to break into the office by throwing rocks in the windows to get the money.” The center operates several state-licensed homes for at-risk youth in Citrus Heights.

    3:09 p.m., Hit-and-Run With Injury, Raintree/Auburn. Police were contacted by a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run collision near Raintree and Auburn Boulevard. The caller said they were currently following the suspect vehicle.

    3:43 p.m., Petty Theft, Locher Wy. A woman said she wanted to press charges against her ex, as he had allegedly stolen her son’s piggy bank with $40 in it. Police were advised that the man had stolen from her multiple times in the past as well.

    4:47 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Walmart on Auburn Blvd. Police were contacted by loss prevention at Walmart who had a customer in custody for “ticket switching.” The customer had allegedly switched price tags on some meat and had paid $14 for $50 worth of meat. Police were advised that the store’s policy is to contact police regarding any ticket-switching over $25.

    7:29 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Joann Fabrics on Sunrise Blvd. Police were called on a customer who refused to leave Joann Fabrics store and was reportedly following the manager around and yelling at her after she tried to return some products.

    *Editor’s note: The Sentinel contacted police on Saturday for additional information regarding the incident reported at The Couch Sports Bar. Although full details were not immediately available over the weekend, Lt. Dave Gutierrez said the report was likely unfounded.

    Latest local police logs include reports of a man with a “large spear” in a residential neighborhood, a woman brake-checking other drivers on Sunrise Boulevard, and a cash register being stolen during a burglary at a local restaurant.

    3:10 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Sunrise Center Apartments on Sunrise Vista Dr. A vehicle was reportedly broken into at an apartment complex, with cards from a stolen wallet already fraudulently used. A green card was also missing.

    7:33 a.m., Burglary, The Angry Bird Hot Chicken on Sunrise Blvd. A cash register was reportedly stolen from the recently opened Angry Bird restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard.

    9:00 a.m., Petty Theft, Macy’s. A grab-and-run theft from Macy’s Mens that occurred three days prior was reported to police. The value of items stolen was listed at $650. Police were advised that surveillance video was available, along with license plate and suspect information. Another petty theft incident was reported the same day at JC Penney.

    9:45 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, AM/PM at Madison/San Juan. Police were contacted after a male was reportedly screaming and yelling at customers at a gas station convenience store at the corner of Madison Avenue and San Juan Avenue. Police were advised that the man appeared to be under the influence and was also “foaming from mouth.”

    9:58 a.m., Vandalism, New Shanghai on Auburn Blvd. The front glass door was reportedly found shattered at the New Shanghai restaurant on Auburn Boulevard.

    10:26 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Glen Creek Wy. A man in his 40s was reportedly waiving around a large knife near Madera Park and was yelling obscenities.

    11:00 a.m., Petty Theft, Joshua Ct. Police were contacted by a man who said he had accidentally thrown his temporary license plates into the trash after receiving permanent plates from the DMV the prior month. Two days after tossing the plates away, he said someone had stolen them out of the trash and put them on a different vehicle. He said he was made aware of the issue after receiving a San Francisco parking violation in the mail.

    12:12 p.m., Reckless Driving, Fountain Square Dr. Police were advised that a man had been observed “video taping himself” while sitting on the trunk of a moving vehicle that was traveling near the police station and City Hall.

    12:17 p.m., Reckless Driving, Sunrise/Woodmore Oaks. A black Ford Explorer with no brake lights was reportedly speeding and brake-checking other vehicles while traveling southbound on Sunrise Boulevard. The caller said it appeared the driver was trying to get other drivers to rear-end her.

    12:31 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Tishimingo Ct. Police received a report that a man with a “large spear in his hand” was knocking on the front door of a residence on a small court near Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard.

    2:11 p.m., Homeless Camp, Sylvan Middle School on Auburn Blvd. A large homeless camp was reportedly being set up on the Auburn Boulevard frontage road, near Sylvan Middle School.

    3:36 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Flaming Arrow Drive. Police were advised that a man in his 40s was seen walking through a neighborhood with a weed eater. The caller told police the weed eater was believed to be stolen and that he was casing the neighborhood.

    4:20 p.m., Vandalism, Mariposa/Farmgate. Construction workers pouring concrete near Mariposa Avenue and Farmgate Way reported that a man had just damaged their concrete project. Police were advised that the man was still on scene drinking a beer with several other people.

    11:15 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Shadow Oak Drive. Police were contacted after a barking dog alerted a vehicle owner to several suspects breaking into his car on a residential street near Brooktree Park. The caller said he had gone outside and found his car door wide open and two suspects walking down the street looking into another vehicle.

  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: Turkeys, transients, phone scams

    Latest local police logs include several teens reportedly throwing bricks at a flock of wild turkeys, a man in his 50s watching children at a local park with binoculars, and another victim falling for a gift card phone scam.

    3:40 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Prince St. Police were advised that two people could be heard screaming outside around 3:40 a.m. on a residential street off Mariposa Avenue. The caller said they could also hear the sound of “lots of vehicles,” tire screeching and a woman saying “don’t leave” and “stop.”

    6:52 a.m., Petty Theft, Twin Oaks Ave. An electric motor was reportedly stolen off a boat that was for sale on Twin Oaks Avenue.

    9:07 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Sunrise Golf Course on Arcadia Drive. Five to 10 individuals reportedly made entry into several buildings on the old Sunrise Golf Course property. The caller requested police assistance to clear out the trespassers.

    10:02 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, Terrell Dr. A caller told police they had been the victim of a phone scam and had already paid the scammer $700 through a Walmart gift card.

    10:41 a.m., Assault, Safeway on Greenback Ln. A woman said she had been assaulted in the face by a female suspect in her 60s while shopping at Eco Thrift, located in the Safeway shopping plaza on Greenback Lane. Medical attention was declined, although the woman was left with a bloody nose.

    11:08 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Citrus Heights Community Center. A female was reportedly in the bathroom at the community center for an hour.

    12:11 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Sierra Ridge Apartments on Auburn Oaks Ct. Police were advised that security video had recorded two suspects checking the door handles of “every single vehicle” in the parking lot at Sierra Ridge Apartments around 2 a.m. Several residents had reported their vehicles had been broken into.

    12:26 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Pastor’s Auto Care on Sunrise Blvd. Police were called after an individual who had been drinking refused to leave the gas station premises and was reportedly “getting in employees’ faces” and was trying to break into an electrical box.

    12:46 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Kohl’s on San Juan Ave. A black Honda Accord sedan with no tires and no license plates was reported in the Kohl’s parking lot.

    12:57 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, AM/PM at Auburn/Greenback. A Lyft driver told police that a passenger had asked him to stop at AM/PM, but when the passenger came out of the store he was being chased by the owners who were “waving their phone cameras” and also took pictures of the caller’s vehicle.

    1:33 p.m., Burglary, Peoria Dr. Unknown transients reportedly broke through a window and slept inside a home near Cherry Creek Manor Park overnight.

    5:25 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Mariposa Elementary. Three teenage boys were reportedly observed “throwing bricks and stomping on about 10 large turkeys” outside Mariposa Elementary school.

    6:35 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Mariposa Apartments on Mariposa Ave. Two vehicles reportedly pulled up to an apartment and began honking and banging on a resident’s door. The resident called police and said they did not recognize the people, who eventually left.

    6:41 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Madera Park on Wonder St. A man in his 50s was reportedly watching small children playing in the park, using binoculars. After being confronted, the man refused to leave. The man was described as having no shirt or shoes, with a bike next to him.

    6:46 p.m., Petty Theft, Macy’s Mens at Sunrise Mall. A grab-and-run theft of about $650 in merchandise was reported as having occurred at Macy’s over the weekend. Police were advised that security footage was available, along with a license plate and suspect information.

    7:53 p.m., Assault, C-Bar-C Park on Oak Ave. A man was reportedly observed grabbing a female, who was trying to get away from him and was saying “leave me alone.”

  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: Reckless driving, harassing calls, transient barricade

    Latest police logs include reports of a transient man building a barricade out of dumpsters, multiple reports of reckless driving, and a dental office reporting harassing phone calls being received with sexually oriented messages.

    1:40 a.m., Burglary, Lakeview Village Mobile Home on Summerset Ln. A transient was reportedly caught trying to break into a clubhouse. He fled on a bike, wearing a yellow reflective vest and carrying a bag of cans. 

    7:00 a.m., Harassing Phone Calls, Osorio Dental Care on San Juan Ave. A caller told police they were receiving harassing phone calls from an unknown source, who was reportedly “making sexual comments and leaving sexual messages.”

    9:49 a.m., Criminal Threats, Stearman Wy. Police were contacted by a caller who said someone was threatening to shoot their dogs. 

    10:34 a.m., Burglary, Canvasback Ln. A caller reported finding their door open and their water heater tampered with.

    1:13 p.m., Homeless Camp, Signs In One Day on Auburn Blvd. A transient man was reportedly seen setting up camp and pulling “two dumpsters together to create a barricade.”

    3:08 p.m., Reckless Driving, Rosswood Dr/Grand Oaks. Police were advised that a red Nissan 300zx was seen “speeding and doing donuts” on Rosswood Drive near Grand Oaks Boulevard.

    4:34 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Cloverleaf Way. Police were contacted by a resident who said his power had had been shut off, under suspicious circumstances. The man said he was able to manually turn his power on after calling SMUD, who had advised him they had not turned off the power.

    4:56 p.m., Collision Unknown Injury, Jack In The Box at Auburn/Greenback. Police were called after a man was reportedly run over by a truck he was pushing. Additional details were not listed.

    6:03 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Safe Credit Union at Old Auburn/Sunrise. A suspect reportedly transferred fraudulent money into an account, and then tried to withdraw it. 

    10:01 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Target on Sunrise Blvd. A woman contacted police after she was reportedly approached in the Target parking lot by someone in a car who asked if she had a boyfriend. The woman called her husband who walked up to the car and was told by the driver that what he was doing “was not illegal.” The driver was also observed approaching other people in the parking lot.

    11:09 p.m., Reckless Driving, Dutch Bros Coffee on Madison Avenue. Police were contacted after several vehicles were reportedly seen speeding through the parking lot, narrowly missing pedestrians.

  • Citrus Heights Police Logs: panhandling, construction dispute, hammers

    Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include reports of a man swinging a hammer at employees and customers at Walmart, an “irate neighbor” harassing construction workers about sidewalk work, and a suspicious panhandler dressed as a Salvation Army volunteer.

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Aug. 6, 2019. Additional logs are linked below.

    Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019: Total of 86 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 24 calls regarding suspicious activities, 23 disturbance-related, 12 homeless-related, 7 petty thefts, 2 burglaries, 1 grand theft, 3 hit-and-runs, and 4 reports of stolen vehicles. 

    12:28 a.m., Reckless Driving, Birdcage Centre Ln. A truck was reportedly seen driving through a parking lot with a rope tied to a shopping cart. Police were advised that a person was inside the cart.

    7:15 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. A vehicle was reported stolen from the Montage Apartment complex. Three other vehicles were also reported stolen the same day from various locations around the city.

    7:57 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Mariposa/Farmgate. Police were advised that a woman was in a “heated” argument with construction workers on Mariposa Avenue near Farmgate. She was presumably upset about sidewalk work being done. Several hours later, police received another call about an “irate neighbor” at the same location who was harassing workers. The caller requested that the woman be removed from the job site.

    9:24 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Walmart Market on Sunrise Blvd. Police were contacted after a customer “randomly pulled out a hammer” from his pants as he was leaving the store and started swinging it at employees and customers. No one was injured in the incident. About 15 minute later, police received another report of a man hitting buildings with a hammer near Greenback Lane and Birdcage Street.

    9:55 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Summer Ave. Police were advised that a resident near the Grand Oaks Shopping Center was allowing people to live in tents in their backyard.

    9:59 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Jack In The Box, Antelope/Sunrise. An ongoing issue was reported to police involving transients living in the parking lot behind Jack-in-the-Box. A second call regarding the same location was reported later the same day.

    10:04 a.m., Grand Theft, Old Navy on Birdcage Centre Ln. Two suspects reportedly made off with about $1,000 in merchandise from the Old Navy store in the Birdcage shopping center.

    10:12 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, Cobalt Wy. A woman told police she received and deposited a $4,000 check and then sent over $2,000 to the company that had sent her the check. However, after several calls, the woman realized it was a scam.

    11:03 a.m., Hit and Run, with Injury. Police were called after a man was run over by a car at the Shell Gas Station at Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane. The vehicle involved reportedly drove off from the scene without stopping and left the man with a foot injury.

    3:18 p.m., Panhandling, San Juan/Greenback. Police were advised that a suspicious man carrying a bucket and wearing a white Salvation Army uniform was seen asking for money in the median near San Juan Avenue and Greenback Lane. The caller told police that they were affiliated with the Salvation Army and said the organization “would never ask for money like this.”

    5:16 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Popeye’s on Antelope Rd. Two transients were reportedly seen “shooting up” next to the drive-thru at Popeye’s restaurant. Several customers complained and the transients were asked to leave, however the pair then went into the bathroom, “thrashed it” and made a mess, and left blood all over.

    6:06 p.m., Assault, Rusch Skate Park on Antelope Rd. An older juvenile was reportedly seen assaulting a 10-year-old at the Rusch Skate Park, with about 10-15 kids around them. It was unknown if medical attention was needed.

    7:27 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Foxborough Apartments on Antelope Rd. A woman told police an unknown male had just walked into her apartment, sat down, and “began making faces at her.” He was later joined by a female.

    7:51 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, 99 Cent Store on Greenback Ln. Police were advised that a customer at the 99 Cents Store was “acting like he is shooting people with his fingers,” although no actual weapons were seen. He was also observed “rapping” inside the store. He was described as a man in his 30s, wearing headphones and a longsleeve shirt, jeans, and blue underwear.

    12:38 a.m., Homeless Camp, Walgreens at Greenback/Dewey. A transient couple reportedly had set up camp in the parking lot of Walgreen and had a “large amount” of property with them.

    1:18 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, 76 Gas Station at Lichen/Antelope. Police were contacted after a drunk male entered the gas station’s convenience store just after 1 a.m. and got into an argument with the clerk over the transaction. Before leaving, he reportedly tried to get behind the counter and assault the clerk.

    9:10 a.m., Homeless Camp, Auburn/Greenback. A resident told police they were trying to clean up a homeless camp in a greenbelt area behind Creekside Condominiums and requested assistance from an officer to check the camp for transients.

    10:52 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Spring Creek Apartments on Greenback Ln. A 2001 Ford Mustang was reportedly broken into while parked at an apartment complex. The car’s battery, stereo and other items were stolen. The door lock was also damaged during forced entry.

    12:51 p.m., Reckless Driving, Sunrise/Antelope. Police were contacted after a woman was seen texting and driving on Sunrise Boulevard in a white Honda Civic.

    1:20 p.m., Petty Theft, Garry Oak Drive. A Polaris pool sweep was reportedly stolen from a residence on Garry Oak Drive, with the value reported at $675. Police were advised that the suspect(s) left behind a liquor bottle.

    2:50 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Sunrise Mall. A man in his 50s was reportedly seen carrying a case of beer and walking around in front of the Women’s Macy’s at Sunrise Mall, telling people he was “going to kill them.” Police were advised that the man had been drinking.

    3:03 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, AM/PM at Madison/San Juan. Police were contacted after a man in his late 40s reportedly entered a gas station convenience store and asked a female employee to kiss him, before reaching over the counter and trying to touch her.

    3:39 p.m., Graffiti Public Property, Burich/Greenback. Gang graffiti reading “SUR13” was reportedly seen on a sidewalk on Burich Avenue, 500 feet north of Greenback Lane. The graffiti appears to be a reference to the Sureño gang, which is a Mexican-American street gang that identifies with the number 13.

    4:08 p.m., Assault, Rusch Park. A basketball referee reported being punched in the back by a player at Rusch Park after being called for a foul. The incident occurred two days prior to police being contacted.

    4:23 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Cross Drive. Police were contacted by a resident who said they had received a call from someone claiming to be with the FBI. The resident was told to pay the caller using a gift card from Walmart, which the resident did.

    5:56 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Rusch Skate Park on Antelope Rd. Five teens at the Rusch Skate Park were reportedly refusing to wear helmets and were refusing to stop skating.

    7:51 p.m., Burglary, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. Police were advised of an attempted burglary at an apartment complex, with entry made through a slider. Nothing was reported missing.

    9:37 p.m., Hit and Run Non-Injury, Dollar Tree on Sunrise Blvd. A female driver reportedly side-swiped another vehicle outside Dollar Tree and left the scene without stopping.

    12:44 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Florabelle Ave. An unknown male adult reportedly rang a resident’s doorbell and asked to stay the night. The resident told the man “no,” and then called police.

    12:55 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Tishimingo Ct. A woman told police that someone had taken her shoe.

    1:17 a.m., Assault, Stone Canyon Cr. Police responded to an incident involving a mother reportedly being thrown against a wall and pinned to the ground by her son.

    3:56 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Glen Briar Drive. A female was observed wandering up and down a street near Glen Tree Drive and Old Auburn Road shortly before 4 a.m., “screaming at no one in particular.”

    5:53 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Community Drive. A resident called police about a man “sleeping in her bushes.” The man appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was reportedly threatening the resident and throwing items around in the yard.

    12:16 p.m., Stolen Vehicle, Zeeland Drive. A white 2005 Chevy pickup truck was reportedly stolen overnight on a street near Mesa Verde High School, along with a trailer attached to it. About a mile away, a 2007 Chevy pickup was also reported stolen during the same time period, on Westchester Way.

    12:25 p.m., Grand Theft, Sunrise Mall. More than $1,000 in jewelry was stolen from Sunrise Mall by a man wearing a baseball cap and burgundy colored jacket. He reportedly grabbed a tray of jewelry and then ran out of the mall to the south. A half-hour later, another grand theft incident was reported at Walmart on Auburn Boulevard, involving unspecified items.

    3:00 p.m., Homeless Camp, Chipotle Mexican Grill on Sunrise Blvd. Police conducted a 72-hour re-check of a previously noticed homeless camp near Chipotle.

    3:10 p.m., Burglary, The Muffler Shack on Auburn Blvd. A caller reported seeing two individuals making entry into a muffler shop through a vent on the side of the building. Police were advised that the business was closed.

    5:26 p.m., Vandalism, Sam’s Club on Greenback Ln. Two suspects were observed spray painting a wall outside Sam’s Club.

    7:07 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Rusch Skate Park on Antelope Rd. A woman in her late 40s was reportedly “shooting a bow and arrow” at a home nearby the Rusch Skate Park. Police were advised that the woman was acting erratically and appeared to be under the influence.

    8:25 p.m., Assault, Walgreens at Greenback/Sunrise. Two homeless men were reportedly seen fighting outside Walgreens, with one man left on the ground and another walking off towards Lowe’s.

    8:30 p.m., Assault, Tempo Park. A couple reported being attacked by a homeless man at Tempo Park on Fair Oaks Boulevard. The assailant was described as a white male adult, with long brown hair and a white shirt.

    10:07 p.m., Stolen Vehicle, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. Police were called after a silver Scion TC was reportedly stolen from the Montage Apartments within the last 15 minutes. The vehicle had a broken window on the right side.

    10:46 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Leatherby’s Family Creamery on Antelope Rd. A homeless woman in her mid-40s wearing high heels was reportedly talking to herself and yelling at customers near the takeout tables at Leatherby’s.

    Latest police logs include a woman reportedly dumping cat food into a nature preserve, trouble with neighbors, and a resident being threatened by an unknown caller who demanded he buy gift cards at Target.

    The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for July 16, 2019.

    Tuesday, July 16, 2019: Total of 60 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 9 calls regarding suspicious activities, 8 disturbance-related, 12 homeless-related, 3 petty thefts, 7 reports suspicious vehicles, 2 vandalism related, 2 reports fraud-forgery, 4 collisions, and 2 reports of stolen vehicles.

    12:07 a.m., Disturbance Noise, Old Oak/Larwin. Police were contacted shortly after midnight about a noise complaint involving someone “outside sawing for the past hour.”

    6:45 a.m., Graffiti Public Property, Antelope/Lichen. Police were contacted about a man who was reportedly spray painting a wall behind McDonald’s along Interstate 80 near Antelope Road. Police were advised the man was potentially under the influence, because he was repeatedly “throwing gang signs at passing vehicles and acting odd.” 

    6:46 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Costco on Auburn Blvd. Police were notified that a woman has been going to the nature preserve near Costco and “dumping cat food inside the preserve.” The caller was worried about more strays being drawn to the area.

    9:35 a.m., Vandalism, McDonald Field on Old Auburn Rd. A caller contacted police after wood paneling had reportedly been ripped off the dugouts in McDonald Field. Police were advised it was likely “transients attempting to gain access to sleep.”

    11:46 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Talbot Wy. A resident called police after their neighbor reportedly came through an unlocked door and “walked around their house and started cussing at [their] contractor.” Police were advised it was an ongoing problem with the neighbor.

    1:38 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. Police were called after a man was observed “sitting in his vehicle for over an hour watching children.”

    5:43 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Pacheco Wy. Police were contacted after an unknown male reportedly called a resident and demanded he “go to Target and buy gift cards or he’ll be arrested.” The resident was advised by police that this was a known scam and was told not to buy the gift cards.

    8:02 p.m., Petty Theft, Sally Beauty Supply on Sunrise Blvd. A mother and daughter reportedly stole a dozen items from Sally Beauty Supply and then drove off in a white Mercedes Benz.

    9:04 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, FoodMaxx on Sunrise Blvd. Police were notified that a 35-year-old man reportedly tried to pass $200 in counterfeit money at FoodMaxx. The man said he did not know the bills were fraudulent.

    9:24 p.m., Disturbance Noise, Hillspire Ct. Police were contacted after two hours of loud music and yelling were heard coming from a residential court near Twin Creeks Park.

    9:25 p.m., Assault, Shell Gas Station at Sunrise/Greenback. Dispatchers received a call with several individuals overheard yelling in the background and items being thrown around. A female asked for police and then the line disconnected. No further details were included in the log entry.
