Sylvan Road in Citrus Heights was closed in both directions for several hours early Tuesday morning after a vehicle collided with a utility pole.

Citrus Heights Police responded to Sylvan Road and Park Drive around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning and found a solo vehicle had crashed into a utility pole, causing the pole to crack in half, according to police radio transmissions. SMUD was contacted to repair the pole.

Police confirmed Tuesday with The Sentinel that all lanes on Sylvan Road in both directions were shut down for several hours while repairs were being made. The Police Department issued a traffic advisory at 8:50 a.m. indicating that three lanes had reopened, but the right-hand northbound lane remained closed.

SMUD workers were still on scene at 10 a.m. repairing the utility pole and said only two homes were without power.

Police did not indicate whether another vehicle was involved in the incident, and alcohol and drugs were not cited as factors in the crash.

No injuries were reported as a result of the solo vehicle collision.
