The annual “Brews in the Burbs” craft beer festival is returning to the Sunrise Mall parking lot on Saturday, May 18.
The 21-and-over event hosted by the Sunrise MarketPlace business improvement district will feature craft breweries, home brewers, cideries, meaderies, and distilleries from across the Northern California region, according to event organizers.
The annual festival transforms the parking lot outside Macy’s into a “backyard hangout” with food trucks and popular backyard games. According to the event page, Wonder Bread 5 and Department of Rock will be providing live music.
The event is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday evening, and there are three levels of tickets available. For $70 VIP attendees receive an 8-ounce mug for unlimited brew tasting, a $5 food truck voucher, and a “Brews in the Burbs” swag bag, according to event organizers. General admission tickets are $45, and attendees receive a 4-ounce mug for unlimited brew tasting. Designated driver tickets cost $20 and include a $5 food truck voucher. Water and soft drinks will also be available throughout the event.
VIP ticket holders can enter at 5 p.m., and general admission ticket holders can enter at 6 p.m. There will also be a designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up location near the main entrance.
Sunrise MarketPlace Marketing and Special Projects Director Lisa Cordell said the business district is hoping to sell at least 700 tickets, with an ideal goal of 1,000 tickets.
This year, money raised from the event will help support Citrus Heights Homeless Assistance Resource Team (HART), whose mission is to provide resources that will enable at-risk people and people experiencing homelessness to become independent and self-sustaining.
The festival, which began in 2019, has drawn hundreds of attendees in past years and has also helped raise funds for the Citrus Heights Rotary Club.
