Citrus Heights City Council members will meet Thursday evening, May 9, to consider awarding a nearly $30 million contract for the second phase of the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project, as well as decide whether to dissolve the city’s Planning Commission.
The council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, located at 6360 Fountain Square Drive. A summary of what’s on the agenda is included below:
Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project, Phase 2. City staff are recommending the council approve four resolutions regarding Phase 2 of the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project.
- Resolution A: Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with George Reed, Inc. for the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project Phase 2 for $28.9 million.
- Resolution B: Authorize the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Psomas to provide construction management, inspection, and materials testing services for the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project Phase 2 for $3.5 million.
- Resolution C: Authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 3 to the Agreement for Professional Services with Bennett Engineering Services, Inc. for construction support for the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project Phase 2 for $110,000.
- Resolution D: Authorize the City Manager to execute an SD-14 System Enhancement Agreement with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) in order to access $1.3 million in financial support for the undergrounding of utilities.
Fate of the Planning Commission. City staff plan to present to the City Council discussion items regarding the Planning Commission as per a previous request at the end of an April 11 council meeting voiced by Vice Mayor Jayna Karpinski-Costa. The council is asked to take one of the following actions:
- Direct staff to proceed with the necessary Municipal Code updates to dissolve the Planning Commission.
- Have Mayor Bret Daniels nominate one regular member to fill the unexpired term on the Planning Commission, subject to ratification by the City Council.
- Appoint an individual, by majority vote, to fill the at-large unexpired term on the Planning Commission.
- Do nothing. The Planning Commission would continue as a five-member commission until January 2025, with two vacant positions left unfilled.
