Police investigate report of shots fired at building

By Mike Hazlip—
An incident that initially showed up in Citrus Heights Police Logs as a shooting at a dwelling or vehicle last week ended up being a case of vandalism.

Police responding to the reported shooting near Old Auburn Road and Mariposa Avenue on Nov. 21 found projectiles, but no evidence of any firearms, Lt. Ken Lewis told The Sentinel on Monday.

In a phone call, Lewis said officers arrived at the location just before 10 a.m. and found two pellets that he said could be from a sling shot, or similar projectile. One window was broken at a home as a result of the vandalism, police said.

There is no information on any suspects, Lewis said.

The incident appears in police logs with an address listed on the 6700 block of Greenback Lane, and an accompanying case number for a report filed. A subsequent email to Lewis asking for clarification on why the incident did not appear in the logs with an Old Auburn address was not returned by press time.
