Obituary: Jack Duncan (1935-2023)
Longtime Citrus Heights resident and former planning commissioner Jack Duncan passed away on Nov. 17, according to an obituary published this weekend in The Sacramento Bee. Duncan was influential in the effort to make Citrus Heights a city in the 1990s, and was also active for many years in the local Rotary Club. He is predeceased by his wife, Jean, who passed away in 2020, and survived by his two children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. (See full obit)
Landlord sues Boston’s Pizza franchisee after closure of Citrus Heights sports bar
The Sacramento Business Journal on Tuesday reported that Fountain Oaks Ranch LLC has filed a lawsuit against the operator of the former Boston’s Pizza restaurant in Citrus Heights, alleging an unpaid lease balance of more than $200,000. The restaurant closed abruptly earlier this month. (See BizJournal story)
Spartans lose to Woodland Wolves
The Woodland High School Wolves boys varsity basketball team defeated the San Juan High School Spartans Tuesday night in a 62-29 victory, The Woodland Daily Democrat reported in a Nov. 22 story. The win represented the first time in more than 20 years that the Wolves had won back-to-back games in a new season, according to the paper. At the beginning of last season, the Wolves won by a single point in a 43-42 home game against the Spartans, the paper said. (See full story)
