A high-profile, 60,000-square-foot commercial site once planned for a Studio Movie Grill in Citrus Heights has been purchased by an area Ukrainian church, the Sacramento Business Journal reported Monday.
The $3.95-million deal closed escrow last week, with Spring of Life reportedly planning to turn the site into a worship center, cafe and a community center with services for recent immigrants, according to The Journal.
The building is located at 8501 Auburn Blvd. and was previously a Kmart, until 2016. An adjacent portion of the building once home to Big Lots was not included in the deal, The Journal reported.
Spring of Life currently lists an address of 5948 Pecan Ave., in Orangevale, and its website shows five service times on Sundays, including one in English. The church is hoping to start using the newly purchased building in as soon as 1-2 years, The Journal reported.
City of Citrus Heights spokeswoman Marisa Brown told The Sentinel in an email that no permits have been applied for at the site, as of Tuesday afternoon.
