Police investigate armed assault on Sayonara Drive

By Mike Hazlip—
Citrus Heights police are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon that reportedly occurred Tuesday night on Sayonara Drive.

Police said officers contacted the victim near the 6300 block of Bonham Circle, after he had been assaulted on Sayonara Drive at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22. Police Sgt. Joseph Aguilar told The Sentinel in a statement on Wednesday that the victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and later released. No belongings were taken from the victim, police said.

The Arcade Creek Park Preserve separates Sayonara Drive from Bonham Circle, but Aguilar did not give details on how the victim moved from where the assault occurred to where officers located him.

One of the assailants was reported to have an ax, Aguilar said, but the victim’s injuries were not consistent with that type of weapon and police did not recover any weapons.

Police are investigating the incident and say it appears to be isolated. Aguilar said the assault does not appear to be gang related and there is no threat to the general public.

No arrests have been made, and authorities could not give further comment, citing an ongoing investigation.
