With the weather warming up, summer events are in full swing and the month of July includes theatrical performances, a comedy showcase, a summer music and arts series, ice cream social and youth football and cheer camps.
Lunch at the Library. Through Aug. 14, Sylvan Oaks Library is hosting a free lunch for children this summer on Tuesdays through Fridays, from 12-1 p.m. Any children 18 and under are welcome, regardless of income status. Comedy showcase. Hole N 1 Records is presenting a Thursday Night Thunder comedy showcase on July 6, from 7-10 p.m. The showcase will be held inside Enfuzion Bar and Lounge, located at 5948 Auburn Blvd. More information is posted on the event’s EventBrite page.
Summer Music and Arts. Citrus Heights Arts is hosting its first summer music and arts series on Saturday, July 15. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. near Ulta Beauty in the Marketplace at Birdcage and includes music, arts and crafts vendors, family activities and an indoor art gallery. SJUSD election workshop. An information session will be held on July 21 at 6 p.m. for potential candidates interested in filing the vacant Area 7 trustee seat, representing Citrus Heights on the San Juan Unified School District’s governing board. Registration is required for attending the session, with more information posted at: www.sanjuan.edu/boardelection
Youth Football, Cheer. The Jr. Mavericks youth football and cheer program is hosting free football clinics at Tempo Park every Saturday. Registration for the 2023-24 season is now open. Neighborhood Ice Cream Social. Beginning July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Greenback Greenspace, the city will be hosting an ice cream social event at three different neighborhood park locations where neighbors can connect, learn about ways to chip-in to their community and meet local neighborhood association members. Greenback Greenspace is located at Greenback Lane and Parkoaks Drive. For more information visit the city’s events calendar.
Theatrical performances.
- Royal Stage will be presenting productions of the musical Frozen Jr., beginning Thursday, July 27. For showtimes and ticket information, visit royalstage.org. The Royal Stage theater is located next to Zumiez in the Sunrise Mall, at 6041 Sunrise Blvd.
- Theatre in the Heights will be presenting productions of Dead Man’s Cell Phone by Sarah Ruhl, beginning July 28. Showtimes vary. For tickets and more information visit the Theatre in the Heights website. The theatre is located at 8215 Auburn Blvd.
