San Juan High School graduating senior Brooklyn Wagner won first place in a sticker design contest held by SAFE Credit Union.
In April, SAFE Credit Union hosted a sticker design contest for local high school students. According to a June 7 press release, Wagner was one of three students to win, along with two students from El Camino Fundamental High School, who won second and third place in the contest. First place, second place and third place winners were awarded $500, $300, and $100 SAFE Visa gift cards, respectively. All three collectable decals will be distributed throughout SAFE credit union branches beginning in July.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see the artwork submitted for this contest,” said SAFE Credit Union Vice President of Marketing Amber DiBernardo.
This year’s design theme was “What Motivates You?”. Wagner’s winning design featured a collage of the careers of her family members, who she said impact her choices and her community.
“I wanted them to be represented in my art and within the community,” Wagner said in the press release, adding that art is of significant importance to her. Her father works for the U.S. Postal Service, both her mom and sister work in healthcare, and her mentor is a counselor.
In an interview with the Sentinel, Wagner said she also designed the cover of the 2022-23 San Juan High School yearbook, and took photos and drew comics for the high school newspaper.
Wagner anticipates continuing her passion at California State University of Sacramento in the fall.
