An Oakland man wanted in connection with an April 23 shooting in El Cerrito was arrested in Citrus Heights Wednesday, May 3, authorities said.
A press release on Friday from the El Cerrito Police Department said officers arrested 21-year-old Malachi Cox of Oakland who is a suspect connected with the shooting death of 18-year-old Sincere Martin. The shooting took place in the 900 block of Galvin Drive in El Cerrito, police said.
El Cerrito police worked with Oakland police and U.S. Marshals to make the arrest, the release said.
Police said callers in the residential area of Stockton Avenue and Galvin Drive reported gunshots at about 4:30 a.m. on April 23. CBS San Francisco reported Martin was airlifted from the scene of the shooting but later died at an area trauma center.
