May Events: What’s happening this month in Citrus Heights?

Looking for some things to do in Citrus Heights during the month of May? Happenings include a traveling circus, theatrical performances, the annual “Brews in the Burbs” at the mall, and more.

The Circus
The American Crown Circus will be coming to the Sunrise Mall parking lot from May 4-8 this year. Multiple showtimes are available. To view times visit The Sunrise Mall is located at 6041 Sunrise Blvd.

Theatrical performance
Theatre in the Heights will be presenting a production of Moon Over the Brewery by Bruce Graham. Productions began in April and will run through May 7. Showtimes vary. For tickets and more information visit the Theatre in the Heights website. The theatre is located at 8215 Auburn Blvd.

Spring Showcase
Royal Stage Performing and Visual Arts is holding a Spring Showcase at their Sunrise Mall location beginning May 19. Performance times and dates vary. Visit Royal Stage’s website for more information. Royal Stage is located at 6041 Sunrise Blvd, inside the Sunrise Mall next to Macy’s Men’s.

Rite Aid Closure
The Citrus Heights Rite Aid on Auburn Boulevard and Van Maren Lane is slated to close on May 8, according to an April 27 news report from ABC 10. Clearance specials are anticipated.

Coffee, Donuts, and a Classic Movie
Sylvan Oaks Library is hosting a classic movie event geared for adults on Friday, May 12. This month, “Bye, Bye, Birdie” will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the library’s community room. Complimentary coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and donuts are available to attendees. For more information visit the library’s calendar here. Sylvan Oaks Library is located at 6700 Auburn Blvd.

Families can enjoy free kids’ activities at Citrus Town Center’s Funtopia: Springaling Party event on Saturday, May 13, from 10-11:30 a.m. and includes face painting, balloon characters, a DJ dance party, shaved ice and a 360 Degree photobooth. Career Education Fair
The City of Citrus Heights is hosting its second annual Public Works Showcase and Career Education Fair on Thursday, May 18 from 3-6 p.m. at Van Maren Park. Attendees will meet the machines that support first responders and essential community workers and learn how they work and operate. Brews in the Burbs
The Sunrise Mall parking lot will be transformed into a backyard hangout on Saturday, May 20, with craft breweries, home breweries and wine from across Northern California. The annual event begins at 4 p.m. and will offer craft beer tastings, live music from Thunder Cover, food trucks and backyard games. See Eventbrite listing for more.
