Homicide investigation underway on Sayonara Drive

By Mike Hazlip—
A homicide investigation in Citrus Heights is underway on Sayonara Drive after a body was found inside a residence on the 7800 block of the street.

Police Lt. Michael Wells told The Sentinel in an email Tuesday that the investigation is ongoing, but confirmed the deceased adult male individual suffered unspecified injuries, with the incident being treated as a homicide. Officers responded to the location around 6:45 p.m. March 20, Wells said.

Police suspect the act was targeted, and have not released victim’s identity pending notification of his next of kin, Wells said.

“This does not appear to be a random event and there is no increased risk to the community,” Wells said.

Nearby residents reported a heavy police presence in the area Monday. Wells said detectives and CSI personnel were still on scene, with the street partially blocked, as of Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.

Police are encouraging anyone with information related to this incident to contact Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-AA-CRIME to submit an anonymous tip. Tips leading to an arrest may earn a cash reward, police said.
