Metro Fire crews responded to an apartment fire near the intersection of Auburn Boulevard and Antelope Road over the weekend, rescuing one cat from the unit after residents safely evacuated.

Metro Fire said in a social media post that the Feb. 11 incident occurred at the Sierra Oaks apartments. Crews found major damage to the interior of a downstairs unit, but were able to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining units.

“Fortunately everyone made it out safely, including Parker the family kitten,” Metro Fire said. “The fur ball was unconscious inside a bedroom, but the Medic 21 crew was able to make the grab, bringing Parker outside where resuscitation efforts were successful… 8 lives left.”

A video posted on Twitter by the fire district shows crews bringing the kitten out of the unit where it was revived using an oxygen mask. No injuries to residents were reported.
