Helicopter aids in search for suspect near Sylvan Corners

Sentinel staff report–
Residents near Sylvan Corners heard sounds of a helicopter circling the area Thursday night as police searched for an individual who fled from police on foot.

Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Shaun Gualco said a call was received on Jan. 19 reporting “a person who previously parked a stolen vehicle on the street,” referencing Phoenix Lane, a dead-end street off Mariposa Avenue, near Old Auburn Road.

The sergeant said the person fled on foot after police arrived, prompting officers to set up a perimeter and call for helicopter assistance. Gualco said the individual was not located, however.

Residents reported hearing a helicopter circle the area on Thursday for about 20 minutes, beginning around 10:40 p.m.

Gualco said a home on Phoenix Lane associated with the search did not have a history of complaints or police being called to the home, but confirmed there were two prior calls for service at the location in the past 16 months.
