A broken water main in the area of Lauppe Lane and Carriage Drive resulted in road closures Monday morning as crews worked to repair the pipe.
Police Sgt. Anthony Boehle said Monday afternoon that the Citrus Heights Water District was performing repairs of the water main break, which occurred on the street outside the northern edge of Carriage Elementary.
Contractors were on scene Monday morning and the impact of flooding appeared minimal when Sentinel staff visited the area. All through traffic was blocked off at the corner of Carriage Drive and Pratt Avenue with orange cones and road closure signs. Southbound Lauppe Lane at Carriage Drive was also closed.
Information on the impact of the water main break at Carriage Elementary was unavailable as the elementary school was closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, according to a school calendar on their homepage. No information on how the water main break occurred was immediately available.
A water main break on Old Auburn Road two years ago also prompted roadway closures near Twin Oaks Avenue, as emergency repairs were made.
