The Citrus Heights Police Department unveiled a new “Honor Wall” this month, to recognize the work of its past members and police chiefs — as well as each retiree moving forward.
The three-piece granite slab was installed in a break room patio at the police station on Fountain Square Drive, with an unveiling ceremony held on Dec. 1. The names of 20 former members of the department and the three police chiefs who have served with the department are currently on the wall, with space for many more names to be added in the future.
Police Commander Kris Frey told The Sentinel in an email Wednesday that the wall project was the culmination of more than a year of planning by the police department’s command staff, the Citrus Heights Police Foundation, and PSM Monuments, which is based in Citrus Heights.
“With the unveiling of the new Honor Wall, the Citrus Heights Police Foundation is actively pursuing its mission and hopes that this tribute will bolster our current staff’s wellness by recognizing those that came before us,” Frey said.
The commander said the first 20 names on the wall were all former police staff members, who retired “in good standing and served the city for over ten years.”
