A man suspected of murdering a Citrus Heights woman at her workplace in August was arrested Monday.
ABC10 reports that Rashawn Anderson, 22, was arrested in connection with the fatal Aug. 3, 2022 shooting. Anderson was arrested in Chicago and faces extradition to Sacramento to face charges.
Anderson allegedly shot 22-year-old Janiah Tanae Johnson while she worked at Speedway gas station in the 2600 block of Gateway Oaks Drive in Natomas, according to a previous report by The Sentinel.
A September 2022 release by the Sacramento Police Department said officers responded to the location around 12:23 a.m., after a report of a shooting. Officers found Johnson and attempted life saving measures, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s sister, Taraejhana Gray, told ABC10 previously that Johnson was an aspiring rapper who moved to Citrus Heights to further her career. Johnson was killed just one week after her 22nd birthday, Gray said.
Police said the shooting was an isolated incident.
