‘Salute to Veterans’ event, concert to be held in Citrus Heights

The Veterans Community Center in Citrus Heights will host a free concert and flag retirement ceremony this Saturday in celebration of military veterans.

The outdoor event will be held on Nov. 12 at 6921 Sylvan Rd., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a news release.  The concert will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., performed by the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band, followed by a flag retirement ceremony at 1 p.m.

Hot and cold drinks, along with food and snacks will also be available for sale.

The Veterans Community Center was founded by the late Jim Rounsavell, along with his wife Jeanne who currently serves as the center’s president. The center is located in the old 1862 Sylvan School house on Sylvan Road and was founded to provide a place for veterans to congregate, access services, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy various events and activities.
