Citrus Heights News Briefs: Halloween, cafe, cityhood

Latest local news briefs include a boy from Citrus Heights making the evening news for dressing up as KCRA’s meteorologist for Halloween, Perko’s Cafe being taken over by a local restaurant owner, and a new video highlighting Citrus Heights’ fight to become it’s own city.

Citrus Heights boy dresses up as TV station’s meteorologist for Halloween
A boy from Citrus Heights who dressed up as KCRA’s meteorologist Mark Finan for Halloween was featured in a news segment on the TV station. The boy, AJ, sent in a video that was re-aired, ending with him saying “Back to you, Gulstan.” (See video)

Perko’s Cafe taken over by local restaurant operator
Perko’s Cafe on Sunrise Boulevard in Citrus Heights is now home to “CH Cafe & Grill,” after the Sacramento Business Journal reported Monday that the restaurant had been taken over by a new owner. Victor Garcia, who now owns the restaurant, also owns Erica’s Cafe on Greenback Lane. (See story on bizjournals.com)

New video reflects on 25th anniversary of Citrus Heights
The City of Citrus Heights last month published a new six-minute video on Youtube about its 25th anniversary of cityhood, which premiered during the city’s 2022 State of the City Address. The video begins with a 60-second recording from a 1993 county Board of Supervisor’s meeting, where the speaker says “it’s not a question of… if Citrus Heights becomes a city, I think it’s a matter of when.” (watch video)
