Obituary: Henry Bernard Leow (1939-2022)
Former Citrus Heights resident Henry Leow passed away at the age of 83 on Oct. 16 in El Dorado Hills, according to an obituary published in the Anacortes American on Wednesday. Leow was born in Brooklyn, New York, and later settled in Citrus Heights with his wife where he raised his family. He later moved to Washington to retire, but returned the the Sacramento area following his wife’s death. Leow worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 41 years. He is survived by four children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. (See full obituary)
CHPD awarded $152k traffic safety grant
The Citrus Heights Police Department announced Friday that it has been awarded a $152,000 safety grant from the California Office Of Traffic Safety to help fund various enforcement and training activities. In a news release, the department said operations to be funded will include DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols, distracted driving enforcement, speeding enforcement, and other efforts.
City Council approves $154k refund to developer
The City Council on Thursday voted unanimously to approve a reimbursement of $154,565.44 to be released to California C&S Properties, which owns the Stock Ranch Commercial Center on Auburn Boulevard. A staff report said the reimbursement was part of an agreement to incentivize development of the commercial district, with funds coming from the city’s Roadway Impact Fees. A remaining balance of about $30,000 is to be paid out by the city once building space constructed at the site reaches 364,354 square feet, which it is about 60,000-square-feet short of currently.
