A two-vehicle collision that shut down both directions of Roseville Road Monday morning sent a pickup truck partially over a wall behind a Citrus Heights residence.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Justin Fetterly said a pickup truck matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen in Roseville struck another vehicle in a head-on collision with occupants of both vehicles sustaining major injuries. The collision occurred on Roseville Road near Whyte Avenue.
The truck was driven by a single occupant who was transported to an area hospital. Multiple occupants from the other vehicle were also transported to area hospitals with major injuries, including a child under the age of 10.
Fetterly said police had not initiated a pursuit at the time of the collision. An officer observed the truck traveling at a high rate of speed and made an attempt to identify the vehicle just before the collision, he said.
Resident Renee Williams said one of the vehicles landed just behind her fence.
“We could hear over the fence, the car is right behind our fence,” Williams said. “She had a child in there. You could hear her crying and screaming.”
Several residents told The Sentinel this is the fourth such collision in the past week.
