A Citrus Heights home was damaged when a fire broke out in the garage Thursday afternoon, sending a plume of smoke in the sky visible to neighboring areas.
Crews responded to a single-story residential neighborhood near Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope Road at about 1:30 p.m. Sacramento Metro Fire Battalion Chief Jason Vestal said there were no injuries reported, and most of the structure was able to be saved.
“Crews were able to stop it from extending into the living space, which is great,” Vestal said. “The fire was able to make it into the attic, so crews are making sure there’s no extension through the rest of the attic.”
The home’s occupants will not be able to immediately return home due to smoke and fire damage, according to Vestal.
The cause is under investigation.
