Councilman accuses vice mayor of misconduct
Councilman Steve Miller during an Oct. 13 council meeting accused Vice Mayor Tim Schaefer of violating the City Council’s code of conduct by allegedly “attacking past actions” of current council members and a council candidate in a guest opinion column published in The Sentinel. Miller asked for the support of two other council members in having the matter reviewed by the city attorney’s office, but did not gain the necessary support.
Vice mayor proposes commission to explore new Citrus Heights Unified School District
Vice Mayor Tim Schaefer during Thursday’s City Council meeting proposed the formation of a commission to explore the feasibility of establishing a new Citrus Heights School District, breaking away from the San Juan Unified School District. The proposal was seconded by Councilman Bret Daniels, but received support from other council members to instead discuss further during at the council’s upcoming strategic planning session.
Howl-o-Ween Parade takes over Auburn Boulevard
Auburn Boulevard was shut down Saturday morning to allow for the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band’s annual pet-themed “Howl-o-Ween” parade to travel from Twin Oaks Avenue to Rusch Park. A harvest festival followed in the park.
