CHPD: Motorcyclist killed in Friday-night collision on Auburn Blvd

By Mike Hazlip—
A fatal collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle caused police to shutdown both directions of Auburn Boulevard on Friday night as officers investigated the scene.

Police said in a news release Saturday that the collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on the 8100 block of Auburn Boulevard, near Rollingwood Boulevard. The motorcyclist was reportedly traveling northbound on Auburn Boulevard and collided with a vehicle making a left onto Walnut Drive from the southbound lanes of Auburn Boulevard.

The 52-year-old male driving the motorcycle was declared dead at the scene. The man’s name has not been released, pending notification of family members by the coroner.

Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision, but did not specify whether speed was a factor.

Auburn Boulevard was closed for about five hours while police investigated the scene Friday night. The same stretch of roadway was again closed Saturday morning for the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band’s Howl-O-Ween parade.
