Questions remain about woman found dead in ditch last month

By Mike Hazlip—
A month after a woman was found dead in a ditch along Fair Oaks Boulevard in Citrus Heights, authorities say they have identified the body but have not released any further details.

On Sept. 3, police responded to the area of Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Boulevard where officers found a deceased adult female in her 30s or 40s. The Coroner’s Office website does not list any deaths matching the location and date, and multiple messages left with the Coroner’s Office by phone and email were un-returned.

Special Assistant to County Supervisor Sue Frost, Denisa Martian, said in an email to The Sentinel on Sept. 26 that the Coroner’s Office has determined the woman’s identity, but could not confirm the name.

“At this time, the decedent has been identified and her family has been notified,” Martian said. “The investigation is ongoing, and at this time, staff has nothing further to release on her death.”

A subsequent response from Martian on Sept. 27 said “The name of the individual has not been released yet, and no confirmation can be made at this time.

Police told The Sentinel previously they do not suspect foul play.
