The annual Sunday Funday is set to return to Rusch Community Park on Sunday, Sept. 25 after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, just in time for Citrus Heights’ 25-year anniversary of cityhood.
According to the city’s website, the event is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature food trucks, inflatables, exhibit booths, classic cars, children’s activities, tours of the historic Rusch Home and K-9 demonstrations by the Citrus Heights Police Department.
A tree planting ceremony will kick off the event at 11 a.m., commemorating the city’s 25-year anniversary.
Beginning at 11:30 a.m., there will be live musical performances from the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band, Canaan Smith and Austin Mo. The community event and its activities are free to the public, with the exception of food, drinks and retail booths.
“We couldn’t be happier that the event has returned,” said Dave Mitchell, district administrator of Sunrise Recreation and Park District.
Free shuttle service will be provided from City Hall on Fountain Square Drive to Rusch Park parking lot C throughout the event. The Citrus Heights Police Activities League is offering VIP parking at the Antelope Road parking lot before 11 a.m. at a cost of $20. After 11 a.m., parking will be free for the remainder of the event. The Sacramento Area Bike Advocates are also offering free valet bike parking for those who wish to avoid driving.
