A motor home parked between two semi trailers in a parking lot behind Hobby Lobby was destroyed after a fire broke out Wednesday night.

Sacramento Metro Fire crews responded to the call on Sept. 14 at about 7:45 p.m. and extinguished the blaze before it spread to the adjacent semi trailers according to Battalion Chief Jason Vestal. Crews found the vehicle “well involved” when they arrived, Vestal said.

The vehicle’s only occupant, 69-year-old Ron Shank, said he was at the store when the fire broke out and does not know what caused the blaze. Vestal said the cause was under investigation.

Shank said he is retired and was living in the vehicle as he traveled. A friend of Shank’s, Maria Mier, said she could provide short term housing and plans to start a Go Fund Me account for her friend.
