The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band has begun accepting donations toward a new amphitheater to be built in Rusch Park in honor of band founder, Kathy Cook.
To raise funds, the band is selling commemorative, personalized bricks that start at $100 each. Bricks can be purchased through the band’s webpage, chcmb.org/stage.
Kody Tickner, band director for the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band said in an email that the band is actively seeking business sponsors and donors.
“Kathy’s influence in the performing arts and events in Citrus Heights is tremendous,” Tickner said, “I hope for this to be a lasting tribute to her and Bill’s contributions our community.”
The amphitheater is in the design and approval stage, and a cost estimate for the project is still in process.
The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band is an all-volunteer, all ages community marching band and color guard that performs across the Sacramento Region. The band was founded in 2005 by Kathy Cook, and originally intended to perform during the city’s Red, White & Blue parade, according to the band’s Facebook page.
Kathy Cook passed away on Aug. 25, 2021.
The anticipated completion date of the new amphitheater is June, 2024.
