Winners announced for 2021 “Best Lights” contest
The City of Citrus Heights on Friday announced two winners of the 2021 “Best Lights” contest. Out of 11 nominees, the winners were homes at 5465 Wildwood Way and 8331 Allene Ct, with honorable mention also given to 7131 Karen Rae Ct. and 7145 Parkvale Way.

Obituary: Katherine P. Mize (1937-2022)
Katy Mize, a former 1955 graduate of San Juan High School, passed away on Jan. 4, in Yuma Arizona. According to an obituary published in the Yuma Sun, she was born in Spokane, Washington, and later worked as a bookkeeper for the United States Postal Service in San Diego, until her retirement. She was active in community theater, as well as in her local parishes and the Yuma Geneology Society.  She is survived by her daughter and two step-daughters, along with seven grandchildren. Green Acres store features indoor plant event
The Green Acres plant nursery in Citrus Heights was featured in a Fox40 report last week on “how to cheer up your living space with houseplants.” The segment highlighted the nursery’s Jan. 8 event, which featured in-store exhibits and an educational focus on houseplants. (See full story)
