Citrus Heights police respond to reports of gunfire Friday night

By Mike Hazlip—
Police in Citrus Heights said multiple reports of gunfire from at least two locations were received Friday night, but an investigation found no evidence of a shooting.

Citrus Heights Police Lt. Jason Baldwin told The Sentinel in an email Saturday that other callers had reported fireworks just before midnight, about the same time as those reporting gunshots. Police did not find anything substantiating a shooting, Baldwin said.

Multiple people also reported hearing either gunshots or fireworks on social media crime watch pages, some near Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Boulevard, and others near Sylvan Corners and elsewhere. The sounds were heard in rapid succession for a period of about 30 seconds.
