Everything that can go wrong does go wrong (on purpose) in Theater in the Heights’ latest production of a comedy loosely based off Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”
The show, The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production Of A Christmas Carol, is set in an auditorium in the U.K., and four women and one man make up the entire cast. Deliberate bloopers abound with comedic timing that one theatergoer said was “very hard to do that kind of comedy.”
The audience becomes a part of the gag as Mrs. Reese, played by Ellen Price, attempts to save the production as it decidedly goes off the rails to hilarious effect. Tabitha Ward makes her debut performance with Theater in the Heights as Thelma, the woman playing Scrooge.
Theater in the Heights publicist Vanessa Voetch said opening night was well attended, and she hopes to see attendance increase through December.
The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production Of A Christmas Carol runs through Dec. 24, with weekend show times at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 4 p.m. on Sundays. The final performances are Thursday, Dec. 23, at 7:30, and a performance on Christmas Eve at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for all seats and all performances. More information can be found at www.theatreintheheights.com.
