Sentinel staff report–
November 30 is “Giving Tuesday,” a day encouraging support for nonprofits, following the holiday shopping frenzies of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Last year’s Giving Tuesday effort in the United States reportedly raised $2.47 billion for nonprofits and involved 33.1 million donors, according to a report posted at www.givingtuesday.org.
Giving Tuesday is an international effort happening annually on the Tuesday following Black Friday, while a similar local effort called the Big Day of Giving happens in early May each year and focuses on supporting nonprofits in the Sacramento region.
