Metro Fire responded to two separate fires in Citrus Heights on Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning — one at a mobile home park and the other at a two-story home where an elderly person was injured in a fire.
Around 5 p.m. Thursday crews responded to a residential fire in Lakeview Village Mobile Home park, located near Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Officials said no injuries were reported, and two dogs were recovered alive.
Metro Fire confirmed the fire began in a shed with some damage to the side of a mobile home. A resident said he believed lithium ion batteries being charged in the shed were the cause of the fire. One window was broken and a portion of the exterior siding was gone.
Helmet camera footage from the second blaze was posted on Twitter by Metro Fire, showing crews with chainsaws on the roof cutting holes for ventilation. The incident occurred on Greencreek Way sometime after midnight early Friday morning.
Fire officials tweeted “heavy fire” was found on the second floor, and said one elderly person was transported to the hospital. As of Friday morning the fire’s cause was still under investigation.
