A surveillance image released by police shows the suspect in an Oct. 18 shooting at the 7-Eleven store at 6180 Auburn Blvd.

Sentinel staff report–
The Citrus Heights Police Department is seeking tips from the public in helping identify the man suspected of shooting a 7-Eleven clerk on Monday night.

Police said the suspect is described as a black male adult wearing all black clothing, a black ski mask, and a black pack. The photo released by police appears to be from the store’s security camera footage, showing the suspect standing inside a store, with a time stamp of 8:16 p.m. on October 18.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department’s Crime Tip Line at (916) 727-5524 and reference case number 21-08149. The department said anonymous tips are accepted.

As previously reported, responding officers found a clerk at the 7-Eleven store at Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot and a police lieutenant said officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description given.

Police do not believe the suspect and the clerk were known to each other, but believe the incident stemmed from a confrontation between the clerk and the suspect. Police said the incident did not involve a robbery and are still working to determine the nature of the confrontation.
