Sylvan Oaks Library facing high vandalism and crime
City Councilman Tim Schaefer, who also sits on the county library board, told council members on Thursday that he was “caught off guard” to learn that Sylvan Oaks Library has had 122 incidents of vandalism or crime at the library. He said the library has the distinction of having twice the number of incidents of any other branch, and said the incidents are perpetrated primarily by “the people living in and around the property.” The councilman said he has already met with the police chief and is hopeful to work towards improving the situation.
BEARPAW expanding with new Nevada distribution facility
The Nevada Appeal reported last week that BEARPAW, which has its headquarters based in Citrus Heights, is planning to open a new distribution center in Fernley next year. The newspaper reported that the new center will serve as an “ecommerce center for its slippers, boots and casual footwear made for men, women and children.” Fernely is located about 30 minutes east of Reno, off Interstate 80.
