Sentinel staff report–
The City of Citrus Heights is seeking volunteers to participate in a “Community Garden Day” this Saturday at the corner of Greenback Lane and Park Oaks Drive.
The event will be held Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with volunteers asked to assist in planting flowers and spreading bark to help “revitalize the Parkwood Estates Greenbelt Park,” the city said in a post on its website.
Volunteers are asked to contact the General Services Department at (916) 727-4770 or email generalservices@citrusheights.net to sign up. It is also recommended to bring shovels and rakes, as such items will be limited.
The city says volunteers will be provided with a continental breakfast, water and a pizza lunch. A raffle will also be held to hand out donated gift cards and other items.
