Folsom Palace, a popular Asian cuisine and bar in Folsom, is still planning to expand to a new location next to Dos Coyotes in Citrus Heights — but pandemic-related delays have stalled progress.
Nearly nine months after announcing plans to take up the former PizzaRev location at 5450 Sunrise Blvd., the restaurant is still waiting on key equipment before opening. Restaurant owner Bob Zheng told The Sentinel in a phone call Wednesday that he hopes to be open in December, with a grand opening ceremony in January.
Other restaurants Zhang knows have also seen delays. He said some establishments are taking two years or more to complete.
The restaurateur has invested about $400,000 in the Citrus Heights location, and still has a few hurdles to overcome before he can open the doors. Chairs and tables are on order, and Zhang says quality is a top priority.
“We want to make it safe and nice,” he said. “We want to build it correctly.”
Another delay for Zhang has been in making changes to the menu and technology to accommodate the increase in online orders.
Folsom Palace has an average four-star rating on Yelp, with several hundred reviews. The restaurant’s menu describes entrees with “low sodium, less oil, and no MSG.” Diners can expect entrees such as mu shu pork, curry beef or chicken, and various seafood offerings. Vegetable and tofu entrees are also listed on the menu. The business has been in the food and restaurant industry for over 20 years, according to the company’s website.
Folsom Palace’s dine-in menu shows prices ranging from about $10 for appetizers to just over $20 for some entrees, with most meals priced between $13 and $16.
