Those interested in finding work or transitioning to a new job may find what they’re looking for at an upcoming job fair in Citrus Heights.
The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce will hold the fair in cooperation with Sunrise Mall on Tuesday, October 5. The free event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. inside the mall.
The Chamber is encouraging prospective employees to dress professionally, bring resumes and apply on site. The chamber has set up a website for job seekers to register, but said walk-ins are also welcome to the event.
“We know that so many of our businesses are looking for quality employees here in Citrus Heights,” said Citrus Heights Chamber Executive Director Diane Ebbitt in a news release about the event. “Our hope is that as we enter the fall and head into the holidays, more people will be ready to get back to work. We are excited to help connect job seekers with rewarding employment opportunities, and simultaneously support local businesses.”
Some of the employers slated to exhibit at the event include Republic Services, Express Employment Professionals, the Citrus Heights Police Department, and Almond Heights Senior Living, according to the release. Registration for businesses seeking employees is $50 for a space with a table and two chairs, according to the release.
Numerous establishments throughout Citrus Heights currently have “now hiring” signs, and The Sentinel recently reported a lack of applicants is delaying the opening of a new drive-thru hamburger restaurant along Auburn Boulevard. The franchise owner, Ben Aibuedefe, said he has had trouble finding people willing to work.
“For the past four weeks I have scheduled interviews for people, and they don’t show up,” he said in an interview last month, noting he’d only been able to find a handful of people to hire out of a total of 45-50 staff he needs to find to be able to open. “So far I have eight that I am trying to hold onto.”
