Citrus Heights man killed in collision; driver arrested

By Mike Hazlip—
A 47-year-old Citrus Heights man was killed when the Ford Focus he was driving collided with a Toyota Tacoma on Elverta Road over the weekend, according to authorities.

The Sacramento Bee reported the driver, Rick Lee Musselman, was killed on Sunday, Sept. 26, while driving eastbound on Elverta Road in a Ford Focus. Another vehicle lost control and collided with Musselman, causing fatal injuries.

The Bee reported that Musselman was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. A 32-year-old passenger, also from Citrus Heights, sustained minor injuries, the Bee said.

The Rio Linda Messenger reported the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. at Elverta Road and Dominion Way.

The driver of the Tacoma, 57-year-old Ronald Ellis, was arrested on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence alcohol, according to the Bee.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said crews had to extricate the vehicle’s occupants at the scene.
