27 SJUSD students reportedly still in Afghanistan
News reports last week revealed that more than two dozen students in the San Juan Unified School District are still in Afghanistan, after the final U.S. evacuation flight from Kabul took off Monday. Obituary: Marty Hume (1934-2021)
Citrus Heights resident Marty Hume passed away July 13 at the age of 87, according to an obituary published last weekend in The Sacramento Bee. Hume worked at Aerojet and enjoyed baseball. He was described as “cheerful, upbeat, and always had a smile for everyone.” He is survived by his wife and four children, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. (See full obituary)
Citrus Heights council to hold study session on short-term rental regulations
The Citrus Heights City Council will hold an Sept. 9 study session during a special meeting at 6 p.m., with the goal of directing staff regarding short-term rental regulations, according to an agenda packet posted Friday. Although further information is not included in the agenda, other cities have adopted regulations for short-term rentals in order to address concerns with Airbnb and other rental arrangements of 30 days or less.
