34-year-old identified as man killed in Citrus Heights shooting last week

Sentinel staff report–
The coroner’s office has released the name of the man killed in a shooting last Thursday near Lichen Drive as a 34-year-old resident of Roseville.

Online records from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office report the death of Pavanpal Singh Paintal on Aug. 26 at 6:38 p.m., with the address and time listed corresponding with a shooting police responded to at Lichen Drive and Carmelwood Drive.

In an email update Thursday morning, Police Lt. Michael Wells told The Sentinel no arrests have been made in the incident, but he said detectives “are conducting interviews and following up on leads to determine what occurred during the incident.”

As previously reported, police said multiple 911 calls were received around 6:35 p.m. on Aug. 26 regarding a shooting near the intersection of Lichen Drive and Carmelwood Drive, located a few blocks away from a Raley’s shopping plaza.

Responding officers found “an adult male lying in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.” Lifesaving efforts were attempted by officers, but the man later succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a local hospital.

Wells said Thursday that the shooting “appeared to be an isolated incident, with the involved parties known to each other, and no reason to believe there was any threat to the general public.”

Anyone with additional information related to the shooting is asked to call the department’s crime tip line at: (916) 727-5524.
